There would be anarchy if this were to happen: LSU would effectively knock themselves out of a Nat'l Title shot...by WINNING in the SEC CG. In other words, beating a top 10 BCS and a top 5 AP/ESPN ranked team for the second time in a season, in Atlanta in a stadium that will be about 90% Georgia fans would NOT be enough to jump USC and get to the Sugar Bowl. I hope Roy Kramer is proud of his creation once it screws over an SEC team this season.
Interestingly, Kentucky seems to play far better at home than on the road this season, losing 3 SEC games at home by a combined total of 14 pts and beating Miss. St. by 25. Kentucky hosts Tennessee on November 29.
LSU would be help far more by a victory in the SECCG than they would be hurt (even against Georgia). We may lose the .5 QW points, but we would gain a TON in SOS help. This also goes for Florida and Tennessee.
VERY interesting. Didn't think of this one: Answer: Now we're cooking with gas, folks. Didn't even know this was possible, but let's take a closer look: Tennessee is screwed in terms of the SoS argument: Vandy is up next for them and Kentucky is off this week, so no more W's for these two Vols opponents this year. Other Tennessee non-conference opponents who may lose include Duke (V. UNC, toss up) and Fresno State (likely v. Boise State). Florida non-conf. opponents likely to win include just Miami (San Jose St. likely to lose). Both Florida and Fla. St are off this week, with the game against one another two weeks from now. Both can move up in the opinion polls while idle, with prime candidates for losing teams ahead of them right now who would tumble below them with a loss including much-hated TCU, with an outside chance of the loser of the Mich-OSU game (not likely, though). Meeting Fla in Atlanta, of course, saves our quality win over Ga., who would be at least #5 in the final BCS and finish ahead of Washington State, giving LSU a little more boost compared to USC. Plus, it looks good to the pollsters to "avenge" your only loss of the season, which given the way FLA and LSU both played last week looks like money in the bank.
One more thing: for this to happen, we need Pitt to come through for us one more time and beat Miami on Nov. 29, else Miami probably sneaks back into the BCS top 10 and gives Tennessee a BCS quality win boost, which makes it even harder for Florida to overtake them because a Fla. win knocks Fla. St out of the BCS top 10. MAN, this whole system sucks!
