LSU's defense gave up a lot of underneath passes last night against W.Ill...Georgia loves throwing underneath. Did use play a vanilla D last night so not to show Georgia anything or perhaps this is a concern...:lsug:

I think a mixture of both. I am sure Saban played it close to the vest. The catch is unless you get pressure from the outside (Hill and Spears) you have to include your LB's in the mix, which generally opens up underneath.

So if Hill and Spears can continue to improve this year, this will allow the Tigers to drop the LB's into some coverage as well.

Jack Hunt went out of the game with a concussion. The secondary was more confused after that with a new man at safety.

Laron Landry didn't look too confused when he was intercepting that pass in the endzone..:D :D :D :D

That Laron Landry interception was awesome. Good to see a CB turning his head to look at a ball in the air.

As far as Saban playing the defense close to the vest, it seems like defenses are less able to hide what they can do than offenses. It's not like you can call a play that will go for a TD. Sure there are blitz packages that can be used but if you can't line up and play solid defense there's not much unveiling new plays will improve. When there was a guy open in the flats like 5 times last night, that was a blown coverage by someone that should have been on the open player. Having blitzes won't do much good if you leave people wide open.

    Guess where I'm from?

What the LSU defense does to try to stop the Georgia running game will decide who wins this game.

If Georgia starts to run successfully and David Greene can use play action to freeze the defensive backs, he statistically always does well.

Have you guys heard about Michael Cooper yet? Cooper and Clayton will be the two best athletes on the field come Saturday.

But ultimately, this game will be won by the team with the best defense.

Do you guys think your defense is up to stopping Georgia?

Without Gibson, going across the middle probably won't be happening too often, unless we are throwing to a TE.

Our bread and butter in the passing game is the out route.

Gibson should be able to play on Saturday.

But how the LSU defense holds up will determine this game.
Saban hasn't been very happy with their overall level of aggressiveness. And if David Greene has time to throw...???
