I feel very good about this Saturday night's game vs. the Hokies. They are not an excellent team. And the TV broadcast vs. ECU hinted that there was already a QB controversy brewing on the Hokie sideline. Sean Glennon looks oddly similar to Michael Henig. If he throws the Tiger D one-third of the INTs that Henig did, look for a spanking by the purple and gold. And I think there's a good chance of that happening. Glennon's second-half Peach Bowl performance vs. Georgia last year was atrocious. He had as many INTs as TDs last year in a WEAK ACC. His OLinemen either weren't ready to play vs. ECU, or they themselves would prefer to pass protect for the freshman QB on the sideline. ESPN commentators said that in interviews the Hokie players' eyes light up whenever his name, Tyrod Taylor, is mentioned. The Hokie running game was non-existent. On defense, the Hokies were solid, but not dominant considering ECU played with inexperienced QBs and no playmakers. Finally, I don't think VTech has experienced an SEC stadium on Saturday night. And the Death Valley kick off is set for 8:15. We all know how hostile that environment's gonna be. VTech has little idea. Their stadium, as well as those of their ACC foes, is not even comparable. Sean Glennon will see 92,00 drunk cajuns, hear Mike VI roar on the sideline, face the menacing scowls of Dorsey and Jackson, and throw at least one pick six. The Tiger offense will play solidly and efficiently. Holliday will have at least one big play. Doucet will wow the fans several times. Keiland Williams will break out in the second half once the Hokie D gets tired and frustrated with Glennon's foul-ups. LSU-34 VT-10 :tigerhead
Don't fall into that trap. Sure, Va Tech's offense didn't look great, but with all the emotion surrounding that game, we still don't know if that's who Va Tech is. Thinking this way just might get us beat. Ask Michigan.
Agreed. I knew some would react this way, but I gaurantee the team we saw yesterday will not be the same team that comes to Baton Rouge.
I don't know about the 34-10 pick, but VT does not seem to be the power I thought it was. If LSU can improve on the performance of its Oline and cut down on the penalties, however, they should not have any problems with VT. On the other hand, VT may have just been off their feed for that game, considering the emotion of the event. I am sure both LSU and VT will improve by Saturday. It will be an interesting game.
It's tough to judge a team by its opening game. VT is going to be a serious test for LSU who also didn't look completely sharp in its opener.
I thought that was true...but I have to admit that I'm thinking their defense isn't as good as last year and their offense isn't much better than MSU. I don't think it'll be easy, but I think that, by the 4th quarter, it'll be all over and the Tigers will pile it on a bit to pad the BCS rankings. ____________________ lsutigerbait.blogspot.com
If we've learned anything this past Saturday...it was that you DO NOT under-estimate any opponent in College Football. Just ask Michigan, and VT. I will not jinks LSU with a hasty trashing of VT. VT will be ready to play, and you can be assured that there defense is 4 to 5 notches better than MSU. So I'll reserve my optimism till the game is at hand. I fully expect LSU to play very well on Defense, and hopefully the offense can get in rhythm early.
if you watched LSU's and VT's defenses, think less 34-10 and more 13-6. i think both offenses will look bad next week. but if we can keep VT's special teams and defense from scoring pts, we have a great shot at this one. i think we match up with them really well.
