LSU Basketball talk during slow football week....

For some reason I am feeling overly optimistic about this year's team. Much like last year with Davis, I am very anxious to see the new players/freshman suit up and take the court. Coach Brady said "Taz Mitchell is like coaching a junior. I've never had a player as advanced as Taz Mitchell at this stage." I'll get some photos of them during the first few games for everyone.

In just a couple of weeks I'll be sitting in the newly renovated PMAC watching the exhibition matchup with EA Sports. I wonder if Brad Bridgewater will be playing for them again this year. The out of conference schedule may be kinda dull this year but I am looking forward to the first regular season game of the year. It is against Southern on Nov 18th.

Glenn Davis got the most (sorta) pre-season all-sec team votes and LSU has been picked second in the sec west.

Should be a battle for the west! I mean it's going to be closer than it's ever been! Arkansas is going to be really tough! They are my dark-horse of the SEC. Those boys have some talent.

Glad to see "Big Baby" back. I like to watch that guy play! If he gets any quicker....wow, it's already tough to defend him.

No worries on being slow because Steele is quick as a jack-rabbit and Felix has long arms and is very quick also...The front is kinda slower but zone will be used a lot. I dont see us having trouble rebounding (something that we've had a problem with). Depth at the guard will pose a problem. We had about 3 guards transfer last year.

All in all should be a great season. Im so excited to see how the West is going to pan out.

LSU is solid... We need to not sleep on them...

They got the same amount of starting 5 talent as normal, but a good bit of bench depth as well

 

i am gonna go on record predicting that glen davis will eat up the sec.

i have read that that T mitchell is like a clone of wayne simien. i hpoe that is true, that dude is awesome.

 

Brady is on record saying he feels he can regularly play up to ten players per game this season. Finally he seems to have multiple options on the bench.

Not only that, there is plenty of size there too -- 6-11 Chris Johnson, 6-10 Magnum Rolle, 6-8 Kentrell Gransbury (juco transfer).

Does anyone remember how long Tack Minor's suspension will be for? Hopefully freshman Ben Voogd will do a nice job in his place. I don't want to see Darrel Mitchell have to assume the point guard responsibilities. He is more adapted to spot shooting or creating lanes to the basket upon receiving a pass from the point.

yeah this team should be interesting.....I really cant wait to see the freshmen along with gransbury....if they gel and mix well early on we have a chance to win the sec ......

i read in the shreveport times today that big baby went from 350 lbs. to between 308-312. dont know if this is old news to yall. im excited about the bball team as well but i still feel like it is the same excitement before the saints begin to play--i always say to myself "we could be good this year, but im not going to get my hopes too far up."
