Is it me or does Smoke need to be "let go"? I for one was VERY disappointed in our performance this year and in particular at the CWS and SEC Tournament. I think Skip needs to pull double duty as AD & Baseball Coach. What do ya'll think?:tigbas:
Is it me or did we have about a billion "Smoke must go" threads on this site during last month's CWS alone, let alone the weeks preceding the CWS. Also, is it me or is it now football season and I, for one, am going to spend about zero seconds thinking about any other sport until at least December. Again, it could just be me. Who knows?
Yeah, he should be let go for getting us to the College World Series. We should have let Saban go for getting us to the Cotton Bowl too. :dis:
Your right. It seems kind of silly to me because getting to the CWS is the general football equivalent of going to a BCS bowl. Getting to the Supers is the general football equivalent of going to the Cotton or Outback bowl. I wonder if Saban had taken the Bears job and Jimbo had been made the new coach, would people call for his head in 3 years if we went to the Outback Bowl in 04, The Sugar in 05 and the Orange in 06? Because that is the general football equivalent of what Smoke has done in his 3 years as coach.
I for one congratulate the Tigers and Coach Laval for their acheivements this year. We will have a powerhouse next season and I can't wait for June to roll around again.
I know you all are going to ask who, but don't. Skip Bertmen told "this person that he and I know", that Smoke is not very happy at LSU. I didn't get the reason(s) why he wasn't happy, but this source is EXTREMELY close to the Skipper. I believe this person 100%, but I honestly don't want to, because I like Smoke as a coach.
Smoke made a few references to the fans that have been calling for his firing several times in the days leading up to the CWS and I cannot say I would blame him for being pissed about them, but he aslo said that he knew it would be like this when he decided to follow Skip and that he knows what the expectations are at LSU. But we do have one heck of a lot of juerks that think we should win a national championship in every sport every season, or at least sport they care about. Saban will have many people calling for his head after we lose our first game this upcoming season, saying it's LSU that draws the talent, not him and he should be able to do more with it. Then they will point out how lucky he was last year to win vs. Ole Miss, how UGA could have beaten us the firs tgame and that we didn't score any points in the second half vs LA Tech, etc. Watch, we'll see some these post and quotes in the paper this fall.
