LSU athletics are doing pretty good.

Arguably, the most popular sports in the NCAA go...
    SPORT (NATIONAL RANK)
    1)Football (11)
    2)Men's Basketball (--)
    3)Baseball (2/3)
    4)Women's Basketball (1)
    5)Gymnastics (3)
    6)Softball (5/7)

Obviously, lots of people around here have very strong feelings about that (--) next to Men's Basketball - try to not make this a Brady bashing. If LSU could get a strong force going in basketball we would have a dominant team in practically every popular NCAA sport. With that kind of presence, it wouldn't matter what particular sport someone from the general public watched, they would know about LSU. This is what I want for LSU. The more people that are aware of us, even if through sports, the better. IMO, even if its only in the back of an employees mind - this kind of school recognition could go far in helping LSU grads with employment & Income levels (not that it's a problem now, but always the higher the better). This was part of Emmerit's vision and it looks like LSU is just going to keep getting better in all aspects (athletics, & academics are also improving).

I like the list. I'd have to say that Track & Field should be on the list as well though

Which begs the question: "So what's our deal with men's basketball?!?!?" No reason why we couldn't/shouldn't be top 15 given our resources and athletic department.

The Tigahs gymnastics team won a big dual meet with UGA yesterday which in the gymnastics world was a big a victory as the UT win for the bball team a night earlier. They also had their 4th largest crowds ever. The Lady Tigahs athletic programs are going off the chart in regard to where they have been in history. Congrats to all of them.

If the basketball program was like the football program...

    1) We would have too many recruits to sit on the bench & would have to grayshirt some.

    2) Players would be leaving other programs to come here, rather than leaving LSU to go elsewhere.

    3) Due to quality athletes (& plenty of them), we could wear other teams down at the end of the game (See Kentucky).

    4) Fans would be concerned about whose starting (See Football QB's), rather than, what are we going to do if Bass goes pro.

    5) We would be concerned if we were going to get a top seed in the March Madness, rather than I hope we get to go to the NIT.

Why are we satified with mediocrity in basketball? Maybe I am bashing Brady, but HE DESERVES ALL THE CREDIT!
