I am convinced after looking at it that we have to pull for the one loss duckies. Arizona State is ahead of us in the CPU polls, and it is possible that they could get some coastal love if they beat Oregon (and thus pass us in the human polls). I think it is unlikely that we get passed in the human polls if we beat BAMA away.
Well, the good news is that we weren't jumped. However, Zona State and Oregon both gained ground on us (the gap from 3 to 4 last week was huge) and we lost ground on Boston College, but that's probably due to us having a bye. The good news is that there is a ton of football left to be played and BC stands a good chance of losing (as does Ohio State). The bad news is that if we make it to the SEC championship, that big boost with a win won't come since the SEC East is beating each other up. Just hope that everything pans out in our favor. As for who to pull for out of Arizona State and Oregon, I'm really not sure. Most of the talking heads seem to love Oregon, some even saying they should be number one. Shrug. :geaux:
We absolutely pull for Oregon. Remember, the Pac 10 and Big 10 do not have a conference championship game. If we win out then we get to play a big SECCG and they are idle. We need undefeated teams to lose. We also need for Georgia to win out. The are currently ranked #10 and if they do win out I expect them to be ranked #6 or higher going into the SECCG. That would be a big boost for our points if we need it.
Since who you choose to pull for has nothing to do with the outcome of the game, pull for the team you like the most.
If Tennessee wins out, they will be the SEC East rep in the SECCG. That would put a 3-loss team in the SECCG. I don't know how much a victory over a 3-loss team would help in the BCS rankings. I think we need a loss from BC and/or the OSU to be assured a ticket to the dance.
