I think it's high time someone pointed out the contribution that Jacob Hester has made this year. Throughout this season of the "turnstyle running back", we could always cont on Hester for the following: He gives his all on every play, period. He will fight and scratch for every foot he can get. (I know this sometimes puts the ball at greater risk, allowing the opponents to try to strip the ball, but you have to admire the guy's drive.) He will do whatever is asked of him, all with equal passion. Run the ball. Block. Run a pass route. He has done it all, without complaining. (I might add, he has never complained that he isn't THE back that is featured, either.) Hester has been our most consistent threat in the backfield. I know he's not that flashy, quick, or fast, but he is strong as an ox and seems to love playing the game at 100% Next year, Williams will most likely take the majority of snaps at RB, and he should. He is a very talented runner. But let's not forget the white boy from Evangel who helped us to a very good year in 2006.
Hey, islstl, I just noticed you're in Austin. What's the buzz out there among the Longhorn faithful about tomorrow night's (actually, tonight's) LSU/UT hoops game? :geauxtige
My number one rule here in Austin: I never speak to any UT fan about UT athletics. They tend to root for whomever is playing against LSU.
LSU should be able to dominate down low with Big Baby. With the game being in Houston and UT coming out of the blocks so poorly, I don't think it will be a true road game atmosphere, which helps. LSU by 8.
Shows you how much I know - I didn't even know the game was going to be played in Houston. In that location, LSU might have almost as many fans in attendance as UT. And I agree about the Big Baby - he should dominate. If we have the defensive success we had against A&M, we should be just fine. I like your prediction of us by 8, so I'll just join you in that.
I read the UT message board, they watched the aTm - LSU game this week to scout both teams. They expect to lose by a few, don't think they have an answer for Davis. They lost their biggest gun from last season to the NBA (Lamarcus Aldridge) and didn't get his replacement yet.
I think many TF posters have pointed our Hester's value and versatility all season long, it's just that most of the posts were made on threads that were started by people who were bashing Miles and Jimbo's affinity for Hester. there were only a few threads which were started in order to give praise to Jacob.
Here's one I started several months ago.And no I haven't done any coach bashing. Loved the job Hester did saturday. The guy never gives up on a run, never goes out of bounds to escape a tackle"quite the contrary,he likes to go head down into linebackers"and now seems like he is gaining some explosivness ou t of the backfeild. Not to mention he is clutch on recptions. The way I see it if you need a first down there's not another back in the nation I would rather give it to to get the first.
