nothing racist about it. same problems in Memphis. hey it's just like profiling the arabs. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck it's a safe bet it probably is a duck. They didn't leave because: 1. they dont have anywhere to go. 2. they supposedly dont have gas money ( some do ) 3. they dont trust anyone of authority telling them to leave home. ( they just wont do that and most don't believe they would die because they haven't witnessed anything like this before ) the old seeing is believing deal. 4. a good many of them are thugs and a good many more are supported by the state. No reason to leave, they feel the hurricane is an "oppurtunity", be they right or wrong that is the mentality. They want to be rescued because: 1. they feel the state or Gov. owes them anything and everything because of their plight. ( a self inflicted plight ) 2. Some recognize the urgent need now that the truth has blown by them @ 160 mph. 3. if they are rescued they will get free medicine for a period of time. although they get this anyway, it's the fresh new thought that counts. why do they loot? 1. they feel that corporations, retailers, any other race, class, creed, color, or anyone with any kind of difference, Owes them whatever they can take, becuase of their Plight. If you grab a person with this mentality, and they can be black or white and ask them, you'll get all the reasons why society owes them a living and free stuff. 2. Oppurtunity..... normally law abiding citizens will do "whatever" the crowd does. the crowd sets the temporary law, in whatever the immediate situation will allow. They fear not retribution because they are numurous. They came with good intentions but decided to "gang" up since the cops said it was OK. 3. some of these folks planned to loot from the beginning. they are thugs. Rape pillage and burn is pretty much a daily thing for them, the cops just keep it to a dull roar. Some of the thugs in Memphis were meeting LA and South MS people who were evacuating and conning them out of money with promises of places to stay, empty motel rooms, various other scams which include out and out robbery and car jackings. the demographics of the region both in New Orleans and Memphis indicate that the majority of these people were african americans. big suprise. if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck... guess what it's probably a duck. Now before you go and bash me for being a racist, let me say this, two Saturdays ago I was a pall bearer at a friend of mine's funeral. it was the nicest, best, sweetest ceremony I ever had the priveledge to attend. he was a co-worker with me for 15 years. Also a part time minister in his church, he was always preaching to yours truly. What's so strange about this? he was a black guy, and I was one of 8 white people at the funeral and there were over 500 people there. I also have several black friends that race with us. One is an Ex marine and I think he retired a belt in the Pro kick boxing circuit. I've discussed this subject with them and they mourn for their own race. Folks there are good people of any race. It's just incredibly hard for inner city blacks to overcome their situation and upbringing. the examples they see are crack dealers, not ministers. Good day.
http://www.suntimes.com/output/hurricane/31loot.html Excerpt: New Orleans' homeland security chief, Terry Ebbert, said looters were breaking into stores all over town and stealing guns. He said there are gangs of armed men moving around the city. At one point, officers stranded on the roof of a hotel were fired at by criminals on the street.:dis: I've got two words for this ****: PRISON BARGES
This morning on CNN they said the bus evac from NO was on hold because someone(s) were shooting at the helicopters.
Hello Houston. Houston, meet Innercity N.O. Innercity N.O., meet Houston. According to Harris County Judge Robert Eckles, the Houston Chronicle is expected to run a story in the morning stating that the Astrodome will be "home" to about 100 prisoners from New Orleans. Eckles says the situation is a bit more nuanced than that: It appears that New Orleans police were forced to take about 100 prisoners to the Superdome during Hurricane Katrina. For whatever reason, these prisoners were allowed by the NOPD to mingle freely with the larger population inside the Superdome. When it was time for everyone to leave, NOPD were shocked to discover that not all of the 100 prisoners wanted to identify themselves and step forward for the priviledge of going back to jail. Who woulda thunk it?
Riding around town shouting "F" the police. For some of these sub-humans, this is a dream come true. No law, no accountability. I've spent a lot of time in africa, it looks similar. Some true colors are coming out in N.O. They want anarchy? They got it.
I know it. My point wasn't that the cooks couldn't serve as infantry. The point is that the specialists are more effective to the overall effort if they get that field kitchen up and serving food to people rather than standing guard duty. Cooks and bakers can become competent rifleman pretty quickly if need be, but it doesn't work as well the other way around.
