With this win, we have just become bowl eligible. It seems we're headed to a Cotton bowl bid, if the season plays out as expected. Does anyone see a scenario that opens the possibility of a better bowl (say Rose) for us (assuming we win out, of course)? I think LSU fans would travel in droves to the Rose Bowl.
The Rose Bowl is part of the BCS, which we will not be a part of this year. It all depends how we finish. A 9-2 record will make the Florida bowls think hard about LSU, but they always prefer an SEC East team. The Cotton looks like the logical choice. Another loss or two and will be looking at the Peach or Independence....
I guess its a possibility, we would need Georgia to lose another game. Auburn would have to go undefeated, then play Tennessee in the SECCG and beat them. Even then its not a gurantee that we would finish above Georgia or Tennessee and high enough in the BCS to get one of the 2 at-large bids (one of them will probably go to Cal). And I guess we would also need Michigan and Texas to lose another game. Doesn't look too likely. And I even forgot that Utah will get one of the at-large bids if they go undefeated.
Collegefootballnews.com in their newest bowl projections has us in the Peach Bowl against Florida State while Georgia is going to the Cotton against Texas. I know that the Peach Bowl is worse but it would be fun to play against FSU especially since we just played Texas in the Cotton in 2002.
There is no way Florida will end up in the Outback with at least 4 losses, probably 5 with an upcoming loss to FSU. I'd love to see us there, but I bet they would take UGA over us....
the people at cfbn.com are morons.. the Cotton takes west teams.. they wont take georgia because georgia fans wont travel well to texas. georgia will go to the peach or to a florida bowl.. florida will be sitting at home with a 5-6 record.. they wont beat usc or fsu.
The Capital One bowl I believe is the SEC #2. If Tennessee plays well against Auburn in the SECCG, but loses, then Tennessee will go there. I can't see the Cotton taking Tennessee again due to the lack of fans they brought the last time they went there. Georgia's yearly place is the Outback bowl, so you guys might go there. I have trouble seeing LSU falling all the way to the Peach.
I still feel the bowls are open right now, there are plenty of games that have to be played still. Personally I think the Cotton is the most likely. But really, anything can change between now and Dec.
Rose Bowl would be cool, but it'll most likely be Michigan or Wisconsin vs. Cal or USC if they lose a game. Outback would be a good choice in Tampa. LSU hasn't played there. Worst case scenario would be Music City vs. Minnesota or Purdue. I think Capital One or Outback would be real good.
