Dunbar was just hired by Chicago, you think he gives up the big bucks to come back down to his roots. i had a feeling with being an LSU player, and coaching under Miles after being overlooked by Saban.
If Muschamp doesn't go to Miami, then I think we have a good chance of continuing the defensive system here. If Muschamp isn't retained, then all bets are off, though he will run a nickel base, just like any other BCS conference school. He has said he wants the focus to be on the front four, and wants an attacking style that harasses a quarterback while also gumming up the run.
This is pure speculation on my part, but I would think Muschamp has a far better chance of being retained than Jimbo. Why? Two reasons. First, Jimbo is a HC in waiting. There's reason to think he passed on previous HC interviews in the hopes of succeeding Nick when/if Nick left (this would mesh with Nick openly supporting Jimbo the other day). Why would Les potentially undercut his authority, therefore, by retaining Jimbo? Every time he's second guessed there would be fans and, worse, current players who would grouse about LSU hiring the wrong man. Worst case you have players and supporters splitting into different camps a la the 1985 Chicago Bears did with Ditka and Ryan. Anyway, not a headache Les needs. Second, Muschamp, fairly or not, is perceived as not being as accomplished as Jimbo because, aside from his youth, he's seen as simply maintaining Saban's defense as opposed to running one himself. As a result, other coaches and schools may not exactly beat Will's door down now that he's available. This still may not work out for LSU and Will since Les seems to have some definite thoughts about how to run his defense and Will may not share those views (this is why hiring an NFL coach like JDR would have worked since he'd likely retain more assistants than a college coach would).
