Holy shit that was good Red. Steve, tell me wtf was mechanical about Linda's voice as she was singing with Smokey? Then, while you are at it, explain to me how she had no soul? Dude, you clearly drunk posted and got called. Linda Ronstadt can and has sung pretty much any genre. One of the truly great voices of our generation.

Red, those were a couple of awesome videos. Thanks for the enjoyment.

She's not a soul singer that's not her style You're confusing your like of her voice, which we both share, with her style of singing. Once again, don't confuse the soul of Smokey Robinson and Aaron Neville with her singing style. Soul comes from within and not from your singing partner.

I haven't had a drink in almost a year. I'll never drink again in my life. I don't drunk post.

Read my post about how I don't like the white female singers of American idol because they don't stand on their own two feet with regards to style and have to imitate Aretha Franklin. I can't stand to listen to most white female singers sing the national anthem because they often murder the song by over "souling" the song.

Linda has one of the greatest voices of our generation and I respect her for maintaining her style....it's pretty straight forward...not a soul style. Just because she sings with emotion doesn't mean she sings in a soul style. Show me a video that she does sing in the soul style.

Listen to the girls in these videos...that's the style that I call soul. Linda Rostadt doesn't sound like them. That's all I can say.

I can say that she's one great singer.

You say a lot here. Just as someone pointed out there is a style and there is singing with "soul". LR didn't sing soul music but in my opinion to say she didn't sing "with soul" is inaccurate. Joss Stone doesn't sing "soul" music nor does Imelda May, but they damn sure both sing with a lot of "soul". I would say the most soulful singer I have ever heard was Otis Redding because the pain in his voice is just there, you can feel it. I think LR put a lot into her singing and that to me qualifies, she wasn't out there just singing to hear herself or to sell records. Its not a "style"
