1. Just won an ebay auction for the LSU/UT game, and got 2 tix at face value. It's been years since I've gone home to Death Valley (prolly 1997). Now, the only problem is that I don't have an address to ship to, b/c FedEx isn't serving my hurricane-ravaged area! (grrr) I've only known one girl named Katrina, and it's no wonder that I never liked her!
  2. Get a post office box, should be cheap.
  3. 2 tics on ebay at face value, yea that sounds like a legit seller :D No one else bid because the guy was shady...lemme guess, he had less than 15 feedback?
  4. Yeah, it's less than 15, but me and 4 other people were going for these tix. It may be the only tix he's selling this year (ebay description sez he can't make the game). Just in case, I asked him to send me pictures of the tickets. What else should I be aware of?
  5. How new were the other people bidding? If you give the ebay item# we can look at it to see if it looks suspicious. Tickets are one of the most frequently attempted fraud on ebay.

Obviously don't pay with check or money order, and don't use western union. I'd use paypal if you have your credit card linked to your paypal account, that way even if paypal/ebay doesn't refund your money (if you get screwed), the credit card co. will. You can request an escrow transaction, where you send the money to the escrow company, and then he mails you the tickets. When you get them, they release the payment to him. If he refuses any reasonable request, nix the deal and look elsewhere I'd advise.
  6. looking for a ticket to the Fla game
  7. That auction is not covered under ebay's fraud guarantee, so don't pay this guy unless you use a form of payment that uses a cc w\fraud protection and are willing to potentially file a complaint with that credit card company. I'd ask him if you could pick yhem up in person & pay at that time - offer to pay the S&H even though you'd be picking them up.

If he doesn't want to do that, take a breath...and then email him that you'd like to use an escrow service since this is a valuable purchase - you'll pay the escrow fee. If he agrees, go here and start a transaction:

    http://pages.ebay.com/help/community/escrow.html

Look at the fees to determine how you'd like to pay. If he refuses pick up, and refuses escrow, just forget it. There is no reason to refuse escrow (since you're picking up the ~$25 fee) unless you intend on screwing someone out of money...especially with a (3) feedback rating. Never buy any tickets from anyone unless they've got 30+ ratings...unless they've got 15+ going back a couple of years at least, with some of those being ticket auctions (look for 'tickets arrived on time', 'great seats', etc).

Good luck. Remember tickets to a sought after game, with millions of ebay users as potential bidders, will always be bid up pretty high (although ebay is nearly always cheaper than a ticket website). The reason you got them cheaper (not face value btw, that's 36$/ticket) is because no one wanted to risk getting punked.
  8. He sent me pictures of the tickets, and it's a match. Should I still go with the escrow service, just in case?

[benefit of the doubt] This is the guy's first auction as a seller. [/benefit of the doubt]
  9. Have them shipped to my house, I need tickets..err....i mean, I'll hold them for you to come pick up... :hihi:
