I'm not an expert when it comes to politics, so I was wondering why it's widely regarded that the media is liberal?

And if this is the case, why is the media largely liberal? Thanks for clarifying this for me.

well, the media is generally based in liberal places like new york and LA, and the people who work in media often tend to lean to the left. and it manifests itself in the way they choose stories, phrase questions, frame issues, etc. for the reasons people in the big population centers are more liberal than middle america, please consult my post on the thread about that from earlier today.

but now there are conservative news sources too, like fox news and the new york post, to offset more liberal sources like the new york times, cnn and cbs. its really no big deal, and as time passes it will be comes even less of a factor as the number of information sources multiply.

So basically you are saying that the media is liberal mostly by coincidence? As in because New York and LA are mostly liberal, the media tends to follow that trend?

So it's not that there is something about being a news person that would tend to make you have liberal beliefs?

well, as i said in the other thread, there are personality types that tend to be liberal. people who tend to be showy and ostentatious about their righteousness. and this is type of person that might get into journalism to show everyone how many evil people they can expose for not being as liberal or good-hearted as them. they want to be credited. yunno, "look at me!" muckrakers. the kind of people who move to big cities to show the world how idealistic they are.

but the marketplace of ideas wants conservative viewpoints too, so it is equalizing.
