guys and gals... I am all for discussing our BCS hopes and MNC possibilities, but I want to focus some on this weekends game against Georgia. I personally have that sick feeling in my stomach that I usually get before we play Florida the last several years, and i don't like it. Here is what i see. I see a virtual home game for Georgia, on an artificial surface LSU has played on just one time this year. I see a defense from Georgia that held LSU in check during our first game. I see an offense that has its key recievers back, a healthy Greene at QB, and a newly found running game. i also see the motivation to not only avenge this season's earlier loss, but also to knock LSU not only out of the MNC, but a BCS game as well. I truely believe in my heart that LSU wins this game, but i think it will come down to the last possession like the Ole Miss game. I think the Tigers are a team of destiny, and somehow everything will work out "according to plan". Please let me know your thoughts (and fears) about this game. After we win this weekend, we can seriously discuss BCS crap. :lsug: :geaux:
Well Georgia's defense got torched for 400 yards against GT. If our offense continues to play at this high level then we have a good chance.
I don't care who is healthy for Georgia, they will only put up 13 points on our D. Easy 10 point victory.
It is very difficult to beat a team twice in the SEC, I believe Alabama was the only team to do it since the "split"... So the odds are against us, however if there is any team that is capable of doing it. Its this years LSU team. I hate to use all the stupid old cliches of A game etc etc. But if this team plays to its potential it can beat anyone. LSU is favored by 3 so far. Everyone in the media is predicting LSU to lost (Trev Albert etc etc) But that is no suprise they have predicted us to lose almost every game this year. In short, LSU can win this game if it plays to its ability. Need a complete effort from D (Ole Miss type) and O (Arkansas type).
here are some remarks from the Georgia/LSU players press conference today. Pay close attention to Lavalais first comment.... http://www.secsports.com/index.php?..._channel_id=2807&url_subchannel_id=&well_id=2
Georgia will be able to bring some different elements to this game that were missing in Death Valley. 1. Better blocking FB Jeremy Thomas is healthy for this game. TE Ben Watson is healthy for this game. TB Craig Lumpkin has improved greatly as a blocking back. The Georgia offensive line, made up of freshmen and sophomores has matured greatly during the season. 2. More offense WR Fred Gibson is back and will present a new coverage problem for LSU. WR Sean Bailey is healthy for this game. (Both had hamstring problems) 3. More speed on defense. While Georgia lost Decory Bryant and Kendrell Curry to season ending injuries, the replacements are faster. Sean Jones is healthy again as well. Georgia will start the fastest D in the SEC on Saturday. And Georgia remains second in the nation, behind LSU, in scoring defense at 11.5 points per game. 4. Field goal accuracy should be better in front of this crowd and on this turf. Billy Bennett has now kicked more field goals than any other kicker in NCAA history. And now holds the SEC record for most points scored. 5. Georgia is the defending SEC Champion. LSU has to come to Georgia soil, where the Dawgs have not lost in their last 17 games, to try to take it away.
Don't forget this: LSU is also a Better team than we were the 1st time around. We're also playing better than we were then. otherwise your making a mistake!!!!
Good Points Chip. both teams I think are improved since the last meeting and the fact its in Atlanta give the edge to UGA. LSU has a running game now, something they did not have in the 1st meeting. Both teams can say they have improved a great deal. It all depends which teams show up. The UGA team that played UAB or the UGA team that played Tennessee. In LSU's case the LSU team that played UF or the LSU team that hammered Arkansas, and the defense of the Ole Miss game. Should be a great game.
