I have been a Randall-basher. I was thoroughly unimpressed with his play in 2003 and 2003, but it is time to fall in line behind our starter for the good of the team. Saban has pretty much said that the competition is for the most part over and Randall will be the starter against Oregon State. I think that with the talent surrounding Randall (offense and defense) and Jimbo Fisher, the fifth-year senior should have a great year at quarterback. And, if he struggles, I for one will not call for the back-up. I think Saban has proven that he knows what he is doing. Booing our football team may have been warranted in the 1990s, but I don't think it can ever be justified for the forseeable future. All it will do is strengthen our opponents, weaken our team, and make Saban more likely to leave. Deuce McAllister commented on playing at Tiger Stadium about a year ago. He said everyone knows that the trick is to get up on them early and their fans will turn on them. We can't do that anymore. If Randall needs to come out, trust Saban to make that decision. Saban deserves our trust and total support. Booing our team or players will only weaken us. I really believe that Randall can have a good enough season to win another NC or BCS Bowl and get drafted by the NFL. I know every fan has to decide for himself. I would just urge you to give Saban's team the benefit of the doubt that they are certainly due.
After reading the article the other day in the Morning Advocate in which Corey Webster confidently vouches for Randall, I'm totally in his corner. I feel confident in Randall until he gives me, his teammates and the coaches reason to think otherwise. Period.
I was never a fan of Randall either, but my feeling is, if Saban sees something in him, he's good. Saban isn't a sap for the vetereans starting, he plays the best player at that position. So I'm behind him for the season.
Hopefully Randall is the bomb diggity, we blow out teams by 60 points then all the qbs will get a chance to play! See its that simple! :thumb:
Well, it's about time ... And, remember he can run a 4.5 and scramble like no ones business ... probably will even get a look from the pros after this year ... :thumb: Has the pure speed to stretch and penetrate defenses :thumb: Has the height and weight for the pro game :thumb: Has a strong arm and is still developing his poise in the pocket :thumb: Will deliver after his 2002 Baptism in fire and Lessons Learned :thumb: His growth & performance will be dictatated and controlled by his coaches as he'll plan the work and work the plan :thumb: Needs and deserves the confidence and support from his team & fan base
I don't think booing a bunch of college kids on a football field is ever justifiable. If you want to go to a Saints game and boo those guys because they aren't earning their salaries that's one thing. But for a lot of these kids, it's their last chance to play football, because they won't be good enough to get to the next level. Therefore, they're out there for love of the game, and win or lose, shouldn't be booed.
I admit I booed Curley Hallman a time or two, but never a player. And I'll get in anybody's face on my row that starts calling for Russell the first time Randall throws an interception. On the other hand, these players are grown men mostly and they get to hear the accolades of the crowd when they are doing good. They can't let the disappointment of the crown get them down when things aren't. Sometimes the crowd is just upset with the situation and not the players. Pro's don't take it so personally. I think Nick's teams will take it in stride.
josh booty COULD be booed because he was a professional athlete AND he didn't serve the winners of the spring game dinner as is the custom for the losers of the spring game to do. even though matt mauck was a professional athlete he never refused to serve the winners of the spring game when he was one of the losers of the spring game
