I've come to the point where I would rather Saban just head on down to Miami so we can sign Butch Davis and go on with everything. Butch tried the NFL and most likely wouldn't try it again nor would he leave us for another program seeing that we are one of the elite programs in the country now. Butch could be here for a few years and we wouldn't have to worry about any sort of rumors. He's proven he can win the right way in college and his teams were never short of talent. Bring in Butch Davis, have fun in the NFL Nick.

Obviously some of you are very young and dont remember all the years of not playing in the big bowl games and not winning championships. To say that you want the best coack in the country to leave shows some peoples ignorance. As long as Saban is hot in the NFL that means he is winning on the college level. What a great problem we have.

I'm afraid BD was very serious about taking a year off even though the LSU job was not available at the time.

Barring Stoops, Carrol, Meyer, Richt, and Tedford, I think we could get anybody we want. This is a top five coaching job. What about Dennis Erickson instead of BD in case he is not available?

Don't call me ignorant because you don't agree with my opinion. There are plenty of good college coaches who do not get NFL attention and thats because they haven't shown interest in the NFL. I don't completely agree that Saban is the best coach in the country....one of the best but probably not the best and I have always felt that way. It hurts LSU that he continues to show interest and entertain NFL teams. I want somebody who will be here for awhile, Butch Davis.

How has it hurt us? You certainly can't claim it hurts recruiting b/c he has consistently landed top recruiting classes.

What's the downside to this ... making fans nervous?

Ignorant may have not been the proper word to use.

How does his flirting with the NFL hurt LSU. IF it does its not showing on the field and not in recruiting. Look at our last two recruiting classes. And you are corect when you say one of the best. Better to have one of the best now than someone how may be one of the best later on down the road.

Why on earth would we want Dennis Erickson? So that we could become Thug U II?

I tend to agree. If NS leaves & BD takes his place, I think it would be a very smoothe transition. Anyone other than that, would cause some concern on my part. This crap about TAF ponying up an extra mill is ludicrous. Do we have to up it to 5 mill next year when he does the same thing. Bertman said it's not about the $$$$$ & I beleive him. It's about NS wanting the challenge of seeing if his coaching philosophies work at the pro level. We will see.

Not sure I want Saban to leave. That's a bit harsh. But if he does, I do know that Butch Davis is not the answer. I've made my opinion known in other threads, but why not Jimbo? Alot of people are saying "no" because of the Archer experience when Arnsbarger left, but hell, that was close to 20 years ago. A completely different era. Jimbo is ready. Give him his shot and keep as much of the current program in tact as possible. Now, if Saban leaves and takes most of the current staff with him, that's a different story. Just say no to Butch Davis.

First of all Butch was easily part of the Thug U, so what the hell is the difference between Erickson and Davis from a Thug U standpoint? Remember Edgerrin James or Ray Lewis?
Bank on Saban's coaches and Moffett leaving with Saban if Saban leaves. Butch will have to hire totally new coaches most likely.

Does anyone think Saban will coach the bowl game if Saban goes?
