3rd and long? More like, 3rd and 4.

And, the play call was wrong...they should have run the ball and played it as 4-down territory with the way Jackson was going.

There was one possession where it was 4th and relatively short on the Bama 30, I thought if we just went for it we might have made the first down, if we didn't make it, it was the same as a missed field goal.

If we make the field goal, all is good... The Aub game taught me that CJ can make clutch kicks.

I do not think you can blame the coaches with this much on the line... You have to play the safest play. You have to go for the win and trust your defense.

That is a great post. islstl is suddenly living in the past and the future.

If we had Saban's offensive philosophy we'd be blowing out opponents.

If Les keeps playing with this offensive philosphy it will cost us a game at some point.

Tell you what. Come back when we actually lose a game. Until then, please enjoy your misery in silence. Saban is not coming back. Les Miles will be here a while. Accept it and quit hoping he'll eventually prove you were right. Your predictions are usually wrong anyway.

Careful not to break your arm patting yourself on the back.:hihi:

There are many LSU fans who believe our offense is conservative and it's been discussed on this board all season.

However, some of us choose not to be so critical after a huge win and an 8-1 start to the season.

McChoke showed last night why it's often good to be conservative when your defense is playing well. And McChoke's probably a marginally better QB than Russell (at least in the first three quarters.)

You just shouldn't give the game away by being too greedy when your defense is holding the other team. IMHO anyway.

Style points are not important in the NFL. Lucky for them they don't have voters determining the two best teams to play in the Super Bowl.

College football teams are put in a position to not only win, but to win with style so voters are impressed. It sucks, but it is our system.

NEWSFLASH........ WE WON!! not almost, WE DEFINETLY WON!!

I wonder if you or any of the others who think they know better than coaches who have been coaching their entire adult life and insist on criticizing and 2nd guessing them week after week, win after win, would like to have a message board set up to scrutinize your EVERY MOVE on your job.

Who here could pass that test?????

Some fans will not be happy unless the team throws a TD bomb on every play. Fortunately the fans ain't coaching, because anybody who has watched the game for a while realizes it is far more complex than that.

Is going for a TD run on 4th and goal being conservative?

    tigermark Rematches suck!

In my post above, I forgot to also include that in this particular game, it was absolutely essential to play it conservative because of the weakness of the Bummer offense vs the strength of their defense. Their defense has won many of their games for them this season. We did not want to play to their strength and take too many chances. I thought that Tiger fans pretty much understood that before this game...

We kept it balanced and tried to take what they gave us. I thought the Bummer D was just awesome at times. But we kept them guessing with our balance. Start slinging the ball all over the field without running it and we get killed. Our drives would be short, our D would get tired, the Tide would pick off a pass or two, JR would get sacked and maybe fumble, and our fans would bitch and moan about us "abandoning the run". I guess that we will have to accept that Miles is going to take flak from LSU fans no matter what he does. Sad.
