Too bad there are no pay raises for state employees this year.

Red's right, Jindal already said he won't veto it. How's that for fiscal conservatism?

Unfriggingbelievable. We will have the highest paid leglislature in the south, with automatic raises tied to the U.S. Congress. That's the beauty of this one, they don't have to trot it out in front of the public again. Their pay will just automatically go up.

We rank either 50th or 49th in damn near every ranking, they cut the social services budget, it took what, 10 years to get our teachers up to the southern average, our road infrastucture is a joke, but hey, we're no. 1 in legislative pay.

Wonder what our republican friends on here think about this? I can't imagine the uproar if Blanco would have let this one go.

    Where's the friggin outrage?!!?:cuss:

I've always thought it was very funny that these people get to vote on whether or not THEY get pay raises. That's just stupid. I mean, of COURSE it's going to pass. Have they ever not passed such a bill? I wish I could vote on whether or not I got a raise.

Oh well, I guess with all this extra money they can afford to buy their own damn tickets to LSU sporting events, right? Right?

It's BS, but I doubt it's the worst thing they get away with.

If we're doing so poorly as a state, I really think pay raises for the representatives is small fries compared to a lack of leadership, vision, and results. It adds insult to injury, but we probably have bigger catfish to fry.

The republicans are robbing us because Democrat Senator Ann Duplessis created the bill and 15 democrats voted for the bill compared to only 5 republicans?

and Republican Governor Bobby (the reformer) Jindal won't veto it. You'd be squalling if it was Blanco, wouldn't you

Do you think the Republicans are gonna give it back? You can't pass this one off on the evil dems. It's nonpartisan curruption.
