No way does a two loss USC make it in before us if we win out, the other points are valid though. BTW, USC's SOS will drop when they play Arizona next weekend.
First of all; -We don't need Oklahoma to lose. That's who we will meet in the Sugar Bowl. We do need everyone else to lose though. And also- -Florida State does need to lose, but only once more. Florida might do it for us. The Gators are one of the hottest teams in the game right now. -USC does need to lose, but only once more. Arizona will put a heavy hit on their strength of schedule. The crosstown rivalry game with UCLA is by no means a gimme. And Oregon State is a dangerous team they could lose to as well. -Miami also needs to lose another game. Maybe Tennessee can do it, but I don't see that happening. At Pittsburgh is our best bet. Virginia Tech doesn't necessarily have to lose again for us to leapfrog them. If Miami loses again and falls out of the Top Ten, the strength of schedule hit they will take, while ours increases, might be enough for us to leapfrog them. But them losing to Pittsburgh certainly wouldn't hurt. -Ohio State WILL LOSE AGAIN THIS YEAR. Three ranked teams in three weeks. Michigan State at home, Purdue at home, and at Michigan. No way they run that table. They will fall, I can guarantee that. -We must win out. If we beat Alabama next week and Ole Miss does not lose before they meet us, the massive points we will swing from defeating Ole Miss and then a tough Arkansas team that is rebounding will take care of our SOS problems. USC will take a hit in this dept. as will Miami and VT. Florida State's will only get better, so we really need them to lose. But if we handle our own business, I'm sure things will fall into place. These are my favorite teams in the next few weeks: Florida (UGH!), Tennessee (double UGH!), UCLA, Oregon State, NC State (they seem to have FSU's number lately), Michigan State (remember folks, MSU lost to La. Tech, who lost to us. We will get a tiny boost in SOS if MSU beats Ohio State, in addition to having the Buckeyes eliminated from the national title picture. Every little bit helps) and Michigan, and especially Pittsburgh. If the Panthers knock out both Miami and VT, we owe them BIGTIME! Perhaps Pittsburgh might be a good home-n-home BCS opponent sometime in the future? We'll be fine. We just need to worry about our own selves. Remember, back in 1998, Florida State didn't know they were headed to the Fiesta Bowl to face Tennessee until the final week of the season, when undefeated Kansas State fell to Texas A&M in the Big 12 title game and Miami knocked off undefeated UCLA. It will go down to the wire. P.S.- I'm not worried in the least about TCU. Even if they go undefeated, their strength of schedule cannot match ours. The gap is just too wide.
Man, Corso's a numb nuts. 1. Oklahoma 1 1 1.0 1.00 6 0.24 0 2.24 2. Southern Cal 2 2 2.0 3.50 13 0.52 1 7.02 3. Florida State 3 3 3.0 4.00 38 1.52 1 9.52 4. Miami 6 7 6.5 2.83 18 0.72 1 -0.80 10.25 5. Ohio State 7 6 6.5 3.17 20 0.80 1 11.47 6. Virginia Tech 5 5 5.0 6.17 25 1.00 1 -0.70 12.47 7. LSU 4 4 4.0 7.50 63 2.52 1 -0.10 14.92 If Southern Cal loses once, add 1 point for a loss--that's 8.02. Then drop them to at least 5 in the polls, putting them at 11.02. Move us up to 3 in the polls, that's 13.92. Then drop them in the computer polls and move us up, and we're ahead of them. Plus their SOS drops and ours improves.
Yeah, right. Maybe USC will fumble every time they touch the ball. Maybe the pliot of the USC team plane will fly the wrong way and land in Japan and USC will have to forfeit. Maybe PETA will win a lawsuit against USC for cruelty to Wildcats and a judge will declare Arizona the winner.
I like your thinking. I know it is a long shot but stranger things have gone down in College football.
