Last season we had a few threads about the horrible school logo we had. You know, the hurricane Tiger thing. Anyway, for anyone watching the ESPN broadcast of the game, you might have noticed that they didn't use that logo . . . instead, they had a tigerhead with LSU under it which looked fine. So, I'd like to know what happened? Did I miss something? I was one of the more outspoken posters here on that other logo. Being an LSU grad from the college of design, I couldn't believe we hired an outside party to design it. I'm sure any one of our grads would have been more than happy to create a new logo for free, I would have. I didn't read anything in the alumi newsletter that mentioned changing it, so it must have been done on the sly or just for TV. It's good to see we ditched the old logo though, it was horrible. At least the newer one they are using on TV is simple and easy to read on the screen.
LOL. Thanks. I didn't see that hurricane logo at all during the ESPN broadcast, so I figured it was gone. The one they used was fine, very simple and easy to read. A tiger head at a 45 angle with LSU under the head. It's not great, but better than nothing and much better than the hurricane Tiger logo.
Here is the the logo I call the hurricane LSU logo: I can't find the one ESPN used, they might have just created one to use on TV.
Hurricane logo? I call it the "Toonces" logo - after the driving cat on Saturday Night Live. It's horrible.
Ok, here is the logo ESPN used on the air for LSU: It's the same tiger head used in the other logo, with all the other crap gone. When they showed the score, it was just the tiger head. During halftime, in the studio, it was this tiger head with LSU under it.
That's not the Toonces logo... the Toonces one looks like a kitten jumping over the "LSU". This one, at least, is a fully-grown tiger.
