Well, you said the husbands "rights should be taken away". This is politics, amigo.

I don't think you really understand what "hearsay" and "common-law marriage" mean. The Schiavos are legally married, period. The fact he has a girlfriend does not change this. And who would know the wife's wishes better than her husband? It is not hearsay for him to relate her wishes to a judge. Perhaps you think he's just lying. Well, the courts do not think so. I don't either.

I didn't say republicans, I said politics. Elected officials trying to interfere with the family and the courts is political. I understand your moral objections, Sourdough. The parents had a right to challenge the husbands decision in court. They did so and the courts have ruled. I just do not think governors, legislatures, and the Congress have any business interfering in a family matter. Or a judicial matter. Certainly not to take away a citizen's rights.

These life and death decisions go on every day in this country. The Schiavo case has become a political football and that is a shame.

    1) In certain circumstances such as this, yes.
Why do we laws, then amendments to certain laws.
Sometimes you have to have exceptions to the rule.

2)These decisions do happen everyday but I'm willing most cases are somewhat normal where most sides agree with each other.
I realize that isn't always the case but there are cases like this all the time
that spring up in this country while others aren't known about.

Look, In this case I hope I am totally wrong and everyone who opposes me is correct, I would like to think that this kind of thing couldn't happen in this
    country.
I don't mind eating plenty of crow over this but:
If I'm right and it came out that Terri did in fact have some kind of consiousness and isn't in a vegetative state.
If her husband turns out to be the scum of the earth how would you feel?
If the story comes out differently than most think then what?

I am praying for the truth to come out no matter what that is.

I keep hearing people refer to this Common Law Marraige. Florida does not recognize comon Law marriages since 1968. Secondly if you pass a law because this guy has a girlfriend and children you can dissolve many marriages.

Laws cannot be on a case by case basis. That's the penalty phase job.

I don't know who is right and wrong but the way the parents have handled this is getting on my nerves and I only wish there was another way to do this beside pulling the tube and watching. The BS comment about her saying I want to live when other so called witnesses say she mumbled something like "I Wa" could have just as easily been I want to go home to be with the Lord. I want to die or anything else. If she infact made a sound at all. Also why did it take 7 days for this person to show up? :dis: Who is right and wrong will be decided by the same God the parents keep talking about. And if the husband is wrong and repents later according to the teaching he will be covered.

No question we have problems in our judicial system. And should be vocal and discuss these things and make the country better. However all these people outside the hospice will disappear as fast as the cameras do. Which inludes the AH parents getting there ten year old children arrested.

I don't think Terri's parents have argued over whether Terri would want to live in this vegetative state or not. Whether she would or not isn't the matter. If you ask me, it's the parents who aren't acting in Terri's best interest. They are acting in their own best interests - they want Terri alive, whether Terri would want to be alive or not.

No Doctor, I repeat - NONE, have showed evidence that Terri could come out of this state. (Thus the judges' repeated siding with Michael) Fox News showed a brain scan that showed she had some mental capacity, the frontal lobes to be exact. However, her cerebral cortex is jelly & the occipital lobes are not functioning.

It's tragic and I would never wish such a thing on anybody but from a rational stand point - Terri cannot ever be a normal human being, or something close to it, again.

Bush is a wimp, he should go in there and blame it on Ashcoft, a scape goat.
Just like Janet Reno did at Waco, Elian Gonzalez?
Where were the local police during the Elian Gonzalez raid?
Did Janet Reno or anyone get in trouble for this, I think not!

Some of you who cried over this situation, did you support clinton and Reno in their little operations.
Yep, I guess its ok for Janet Reno and company to do it but not the Republicans.
The Republicans and congress can do nothing right, not even if its legal.
The judiciary really showed up the executive and legislative part of government, who is really running this country now?

God help us all, Both Bush's especially the president is a whimp!

Most of you siding with Michael, he won't even let the parents have their
daughters body after this is over?
What do you think about that, I think he is obsessed with killing Terri, ruining
    the parents lives as well.
Better not cross Michael Schiavo, this may happen to you! :hihi:
