I would say Lavalias. Booger was incredible, don't get me wrong...but it has been a while since we have seen someone contribute this much and contribute so much to the players that line up beside him.
Lavalais. Booger was a monster, but Lavalais is the best LSU defensive lineman since Leonard Marshall.
Lavalais had a much better cast around him, if you ask me... I would say that Booger McFarland overcame everything from inept schemes to inept coaching to inept talent around him to dominate in his senior year in becoming a first team all-american. McFarland for my money. Not to take away from Lavalais, but Lavalais blossomed in a system, McFarland survived and perservered a train wreck... Think of it this way... What would McFarland do in this system?
You have to love Lavalais' work ethic, perservering thru all he did to become a star at LSU...but Booger was just an absolute freak. His final year at LSU, he was the only member of that defense to leave it all on the field EVERY game.
It's a funny thing, because when they were at LSU, I always thought Karl Wilson and Ramsey Dardar were better DLs than Leonard Marshall...he was the one you never heard about. Yet look at who had the really successful pro career. Heck, last time I heard, Ramsey Dardar was busy making big rocks into little rocks at Angola.
TE that is the most factual post you have ever posted, IMO. Booger had no help and PP Defensive coaches and still was outstanding. How great was the Georgia DLineman this year after the two first round draft picks left Georgia.
Dardar was a physical stud, but his head-space wasn't right. There are no rocks for him to bust up at Angola. Hard labor there means 90 days a year hoeing and picking cotton and cutting cane in the fall. Cocaine was more important than the NFL for Ramsey Dardar.
