Last summer, we had to suspect this.

    August, 2004.

I was outdoors getting some exercise by jogging through my new neighborhood up here near NYC.

I had my radio headphones on listening to WFAN Sports radio and learned that Ricky Williams retired from football. I immediately thought to myself that Wannstedt would probably be fired sometime in 2004, and Wayne High-Zinger would be going after Saban for the 2005 NFL season.

Come on, everybody. If you follow football, you HAD to know that there was a good chance for us to be in this situation right now.

I have to be honest with you, I was glad when the Big Name college coaches like Spurrier and others tanked as NFL HCs. I thought it might convince Saban to stay at LSU.

I underestimated what a driven, hyper-ambitious person he is.

I'll be hanging out over at the Lady Tigers forum, in case anybody was wondering.

    Man, great post!

I really dont have much to say at this point simply because I am so down. For all of us, LSU is more than just a coach. Saban was great but its obvious we were a stepping stone for something bigger.

I am going to drown in my bourdon, what a sad day its been.
