It looks as if we'll be able to sign around 22 players this year. Who does everybody believe will be the remaning recruits will be and do we sign a QB?
If we sign a QB it will the an ATH/QB and he will become a WR or DB. You go after a big time QB after the 2004 and 2005 seasons in order to stagger elidibility so when you have one guy leave you have a sophmore or junior waiting in the wings.
we need Early Doucet, Luke Sanders, Jay Lucas, Craig Steltz, Marlon Favorite, Daryl Richard, Tony Bell, Jerami Holifield, Michael Bumpus, Xavier Carter, Xavier Lee. No way we get all of those...but we get most of them. :geaux:
I like what I have read about Xavier Carter. He would be a big time out of state recruit. Early Doucet should be our #1 target as an in-state player. Luke Sanders would be a good addition for depth an LB which we really need. We need some good corners and someone to back up LaRon Landry and Jesse Daniels in the years to come.
From everything I've read, it looks like this is a year in which we stock up defensively. We already have a LOT of verbal commitments from some very outstanding recruits on the defensive side of the ball. In all honesty, with the stable of young running backs we already have, it's hard to find fault with any RB that decides to NOT come here--they'd be buried WAY down in a depth chart that wouldn't allow any playing time at all until possibly their Sr. year. Look for Saban to address RB's and QB's more heavily next year and even harder the year after. As for WR's. We still could use Doucet! WR is a position in which 3, 4 and possibly 5 guys can get substantial playing time in a single season. With Henderson leaving after this season, and Clayton after next (pending rumors that he's staying for his Sr. year are true), a high-profile WR like Doucet could very well be getting playing time right away. OL is another area that's shaping up to be pretty good in the recruiting class.
LSU will sign up to 24 in February, 19 are already "in the fold". 1. LSU gets 7 of the 10 players from LA ranked in the Top 150. 2. LSU gets 6 of the 11 players from LA ranked Super Prospect 3. LSU has 3 players from Out of state as Super Prospect 4. LSU has 2 JUCO Top 150 players (impact players). 5. LSU has 1 Sleeper at LB already. The total =19 players at present "in the fold". The remaining 5 will be chosen from the "70 or so" Blue Chip athletes who are vying for an LSU visit. LSU has already denied several visits and, as most of you already know, are limited to 55. Note on #1 above: Glenn "Big Baby" Davis is not counted toward the total, and has signed with LSU in BB. Luke Sanders, Evangel RB Hester & DE Chris Bowers will not be Tigers ... per sources. The only RB in LA signing with LSU will be Lucas.
hester already has alonghorn tatoo on his arm, and that bowers kid didn't look like he was worth signing when i saw them on espn.
