this CNN story should sink old KB's ship as Louisiana's governor. Everything about Katrina appears to have been PR for her......I sense very little true compasion on her behalf after reading this article. Reminds me of some of the movies you see on tv like Wag the Dog, Bob Roberts, and Bullworth.

Wag the Dog and Bullworth are 2 of my favorite movies.

But to stay on topic, I still don't know how this woman got elected Gov. It's amazing how stupid people in Louisiana are to vote for this piece of trash.

"Stupid is as stupid does." as far as her winning over Jindal.

Regarding this article...on its surface, I have no problem with it. Politicians have to appeal to people to be effective. But reading some of the quotes from the e-mails just sickens me. Not sure if it's limited to Blanco, because I suspect it sickens me about all politicians, and the voters that are swayed by such trivialities.

As much as I dislike Blanco, every politician worry about their image and the PR angle, even during a crisis.

Tell me Bush wasn't concern about his image when he made numerous trips down here. Wasn't it heartwarming when Bush put his arm around a young black woman who lost her Mississippi home? That's called a photo op. And I'm sure someone on his staff picked out his attire as well.

It doesn't mean they don't care, it just means most politicians are more concerned about the politics, polls, re-elections, etc. It sucks, but it is reality.

It would be fun to see all the White House emails during this crisis...

Funny, all of these emails and comments were from Blanco staffers, not from the Guv. The sycophants that surround politicians are paid to worry about things like image and public perception.

Were there no emails from the governor that were worth writing about?

The media did the same thing to Michael Brown when they published email from Browns staff that noted that Brown had to have time in his schedule for dinner "at least 30 minutes". Media painted it to look like Brown put eating ahead of managing the disaster. That was BS--everybody involved had to grab 30 for chow from time to time. It would be irresponsible not to. There was enough of Browns own mismanagement to get him fired, it was simply poor journalism to make an issue out of him stoping for a bite in a 24-hour-a-day crisis. It was his staffers job to make sure he found time to do it.

These reporters should be digging for the big stories in the disaster. There will be plenty of these--un-followed plans, in adequate levees, poor leadership, poor communication, and miserable federal cooperation.

These are the things that will sink the Governor's ship . . and some other ships, too. Not some fluff article about how the governors aides fretted about her appearance. In a year, few will remember this non-story and nobody will care. I already don't care.

I want to read the congresssional report, when they finish. The truth will come out in time.

I read somewhere that she doesn't actually send her own email, her staff does that for her. She just approves the emails before they are sent out.

Not sure about Bush, but I'd be surprised if he sends his own as well. Can't see our Presidents sitting at a computer or using a blackberry to send out emails.

She is completely unworthy of having the initials 'KB.'

I dislike Blanco as much as anyone, but I see nothing unusual about these emails. This is what a politician's staff is paid to do.
