Collins resigned. Probably would have been fired after another year anyway. Mayby UL-L and UL-M can start their own league. Call it the UL-Alphabets. 1st one to win a game gets a bid to the Piggly Wiggly Cereal Bowl. In the likely event neither team wins a game, they can be Co-Champs and get a Flash Gordon decoder ring.
$50,000 worth of damage to the house! Even if he was in a middle class neighborhood thats almost half the value of a decent house. He must have really hit the house.
wait, wasnt his dad Pat Collins? and wasnt Pat Collins fired for beating his wife and alcohol problems?
Yep. That was back in 1989, just a year after ULM (then NLU) won a D-1AA national title. It seems the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Collins Sr. later got his life straightened out, quit drinking, and went back to coaching at the high school level. Let's hope his son can do the same. Meanwhile, an absolutely devastating blow to the ULM football program. When it rains, it pours, I guess. This will badly hurt their already slim chances of staying in Division 1-A.
Funny Thing is Bruce Hanks (ULM AD) and Tag Rome (hall of fame player from NLU) were with him getting drunk but I guess he was the only one drinking and driving that night. I think the ULM AD should lose his job too.
