A writer from the Times Picayune of New Orleans has been dismissed from his voting duties after dropping Oklahoma from 15 to 24 because he thought they lost when they actually won. He was in the LSU pressbox that night and blamed it on somebody who told him that they lost.:hihi: http://www.2theadvocate.com/sports/4663656.html
This is from Ivan Maisel's "Just For Argument's Sake" column under "Just a Thought" (link) I find this amazing (and very scary that poll voters are this clueless). How in the world did someone at the LSU-Bama game (and a reporter at that) NOT know that UGa had upset Auburn?!? Plus, his excuse that the OK-TTU game wasn't in the BR paper doesn't work for this, because I'm sure there was a mention in the BR paper about the SEC upset.
Anbody find it nuts that coaches get to vote? Their own team just played that same Saturday night. So many games are night games. And you have to manage to figure out what your top 25 is by morning time? Come on, that is crap. I can deal with writers voting, they have all the time in the world to absorb what has just taken place. And they can watch as many of the games as necessary (i.e., Sports Bars, ESPN Gameplan packages, etc). As much as we despise writers (i.e., AP Poll), at least they have the time to put some thought into all of this.
