He played very calmly tonight. No retarded mistakes, no picks. Kept his head in the game. Nothing like last season. I bet he's gonna be a destroyer next year.

Congratulations to JaMarcus Russell and the whole team.

i think he played ok. made some plays but missed some too. more credit should go to the OL that JR. JR was rarely touched.

That's a good point. Compare the protection JR had to that of Croyle. Croyle's situation was always chaotic at best. Still tho, I just think he executed better tonight that he has in the past. Threw some really pretty passes.

    Sorry, I just like JR.

Yeah, Alabama's O-Line was overmatched in this game. Kudos to our D-Line.

As far as the Offensive side of the ball-Kudos to Jimbo for managing the game while still opening it up with the passing game. A good gameplan if you ask me. Big ups to Dwayne Bowe for making a play, along with J-Marc. He is a winner, a playmaker, a clutch performer. I cannot believe how well J-Marc has played under pressure this season. He, as well as the team, continues to pull out the victory when it is gut check time. Games in the SEC are won in the 4th quarter, and having a QB with major cajones does not hurt.

JR had excellent pass protection the entire 2nd half, and for parts of the first half.

All in all, not a great QB performance, but good enough to win. He didn't make mistakes, but he also failed to make plays that were right there in front of him.

The biggest play was actually in OT when he scrambled out to the left and kept it and ran instead of trying to force it in anywhere. Last year, he possibly throws an interception on that play.

I do too. I think the guy is clutch. He's improved a great deal over the course of the season, and look how he's responded with games on the line. He's only gonna get better, IMO.

Really, is there anyone else you want with the ball in his hand late than JR? The guy is just clutch. Iowa game last year, then Ariz St., Florida, Auburn, and now Bama this year. Granted, we lost the Iowa game, but he had brought us back to take the lead before the fluke ending.

When we are down late, JR stays cool and makes the plays. When we are down, he continually finds a way to get us back on top.

I think my favorite thing about him today was his demeanor (sp?) on the sidelines... he coulda got upset quite a few times after working hard to get his team in FG position and the kicker (having tough attempts) booted it.
Instead, he was mature about it and got his head back in the game...

unlike croyle... kicking the wall once, and talking sh!t to the lsu D-line after getting hit... I really like the direction lsu's going as far as character is concerned...

    nothing like the dinardo days

Definitely JaMarcus has shown quite a bit of improvement compared to last year. His throws have been quite accurate, and a lot of times, he turned broken plays into winners by rolling out; that's just raw talent. I have been pleased with his poise this year in every tight game down to the last minute. For the good protection he got today, I have to give kudos to the offensive line that played a notch up after the first half. Again, it's a team sport. The TD drive in the third quarter was impressive.

    Quote from Kyle Williams tonight:

""JaMarcus is a gamer. When we get behind the 8-ball, he always answers the call."
