KO probably carries a better status than LaRon, add in the fact that Bing and Huff will probably be in the draft and it could push LaRon into the 2nd round. Might be wise to come back and he'd probably be the top safety taken.

Huff would be picked before Landry as it is now... and IMO, Ko Simpson is the best safety in the SEC. If Ko comes out, then LaRon should definately come back. Next year looks better for him--he could definately be the first safety taken in '06.

Yep, I think that's about right. Safety is increasingly becoming a glamour pick in the draft, due to the immediate impact the rookies are making. However, this seems like an unusually deep year for safeties, and Landry would slide to at least the late second round. Next year he would be a mid-first rounder, IMO.

I do think that LaRon will come back. He could and should be the best safety in college football next year with a year of Pelini's D already under his belt.

I agree. It looked as though Laron (and the rest of the secondary for that matter) had a difficult time early on in the season. Pelini's defense looked to rely more on converages than Saban's attacking/blitzing style. Though Pelini blitzed more as the season went on, I think it was due to the players being more comfortable with their assignments--allowing Pelini to be more comfortable blitzing.

Having been through a full year in the system, Landry's stock will only rise even more next season. Right now, there's Huff, Bing and Dwayne Slade of Texas Tech that are getting more pub. than LaRon....

When do the underclassmen have to declare and is there anyway of knowing if a player has put his name in for a draft evaluation?

January 15, and ESPN/CNNSI normally maintain a listing of those who have declared.

So in one week we will know then.

I didnt mean a list of those who have already declared but I thought there was a scouting service or draft evaluation service that players can submit their name too? I guess thats not public.

If we want to contend for an SEC Championship and a national championship, we are going to need LaRon Landry running the secondary. I really hope he stays.

Actually Jesse Daniels makes the calls but I agree that we need LaRon back to put us in the best possible position to repeat as champs in the West and win SEC.
