on sportscenter they interviewed him and he just said that his top three contenders for "usc's title" were ohio state (homer pick) lsu (smart pick) and louisville...LOUISVILLE!!!! the man is off his rocker... they could go 800-0 and wouldnt make it to pasedena!!!!
They are in a BCS conference now and it they were one of two undefeated teams they WOULD go to the Rose Bowl this year. ..............
They would if there were 2 or fewer undefeated teams, and Louisville was one of them. Why? Two words: Big East
I'd say Louisville is a smart pick. It's a weak BCS conference in which Louisville most likely will the champ. Their chances of going undefeated are better then a tougher conference like the SEC or Big 10. It doesn't mean they deserve the Rose Bowl birth if they are undefeated and go over a 1 loss SEC team. The media has their favorites and Louisville is one of the flavors of the month at the moment.
Like Purdue, I could see Louisiville go unbeaten and still not make the Rose Bowl even if only one toehr team is unbeaten. It really depends on high they start in the polls. So, is Kirk an idiot for saying "USC's title", or because of picking tOSU, LSU or Louiville to be the heir apparent if USC falters? I like Kirk, he says a lot of good things IMO.
Louisville is a very solid team but put in the SEC or BigXII.....I would think of them as a Arkansas type team.
Ok. I think Kirk is possibly the most unbiased of the bunch. And he's been giving LSU a lot lof preseason love. Let's support our boys and watch them exceed even Kirk's expectations.
