I don't know much about Ore St, in fact I know almost nothing, and I live out here in PAC 10 land now. The SC fans seem to think they will not only score 40 on the Beavs, but will hold them to 0 pts. I have read that Ore St has a very good RB and decent LB's . . . but the SC fans are not worried one bit. I'm hoping Ore St can win this one, even though they haven't won in LA against SC since the 60's. They are due a big win. I got an email today from the LSU alumi chapter out here in So Cal, and they want to get people together to go to the SC/Ore St game dressed in purple and gold. I do think it is a good idea, showing our Tiger support inside SC's stadium. I won't be going though, I don't want to risk possibly missing one second of the LSU game to go see SC and Ore St (two teams I could really care less about). I don't know about the SC players and coaches, but the fans are overlooking this game big time . . . they just don't think Ore St has any chance. They are even concerned attendance will be low b/c of the possible blow out. GEAUX TIGERS!
Yes, and you should read the war going on over on TigerRag.com on The Insiders board. The USC fans are getting brutal. They must be scared.
They are a pretty good football team. They have an explosive offense, one that is ranked 16th nationally, and the nations #11 total defense.
I saw that Jackson (RB) kid play, not sure if it was early this season or last. He's definitely got the full package.
What worries me is the ORE ST defensive and offensive lines. I don't know if they can match up with SC, atleast from what I am hearing out here, they can't. But like I posted earlier, this team is due a big win in LA. It's been too long, and I rather have SC lose and us win, than to have everything come down to computers and decimal pts. Like everyone else on this board. Could the SC players be overlooking this match up? They are saying all the right things in the paper, Norm Chow said all the right things on the MNF post game show out here, and Pete C doesn't come across as a coach who would let his players overlook ORE St . . . BUT this was an off week. The SC players went home and heard from all their friends say that they would be playing for the NC and not to let them down (they even interviewed an SC O lineman and he said exactly that). Expectations are very high out here (for the first time in a very long time), and I think Okla has these guys attention more than ORE St. Ark surprised us last year, and I think Ore St can do it as well if they just focus on SC and not the fact they had such a bad year.
Mike Riley is a fine coach and is excited to be facing SC, a school at which he's coached in the past. One thing I do know about OSU is they've been hurt by inconsistency at QB. Steve Jackson has to have a big day, the defense limit big plays and Beaver turnovers need to be at a minimum.
This is the same Mel Kiper that blasted LSU, saying USC was a far superior team. It makes sense for him to praise the beavers, which will only serve his cause if they blow them out or even if OSU plays them close. To make them appear better than what they are, it will only help the USC support.
