yes. just download the app for your computer and read them there if you wish. or just send them to your phone. but yeah you can search whatever and find it that way. if you're home mostly thats all you'll need.
thanks, hadnt thought of that option. if i do that, i assume that if i buy a kindle later, i can sync the two and have all the books on an actual kindle too? does the b/n nook have an app too, or do you have to buy the reader? i like the idea of periodicals also. so many choices. decisions, decisions. edit: just found the answer to nook, which is yes. so now, which one do i want to go with to start on my pc, then get the e-reader later.
yes they all have an app. I downloaded the kindle one and it syncs up b/t the laptop and phone. actually it just logs into your account and you can access whatever you've downloaded. it keeps up where you left off etc. There's a lot of free ones for the kindle so thats pretty cool. You can get them almost instantaneously.
question, can i borrow ebooks for my kindle from the east baton rouge parish library if i borrow my dad's library card?
From all the reviews I have read, the NOOK also reads some standard library e-book format and the Kindle does not. Seems strange, but that is the consistent message I have read. I have not tried this, just book learning.
All you need is the number I believe. Although I'm not sure if ebr yet has the kindle ebooks if that's what you're asking.
yes, kindle has a funky format, most libraries have books that are nookable but are no good for kindle. heard a friend say that EBR has kindle books, but not sure, found none on the websiite
I have the Overdrive app on my iPad2 which allows me to check out books from my library. I also have the Kindle and the nook apps so I'm not limited to where I shop. This thing is amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone.
OverDrive update to boost Amazon's Kindle library lending Overdrive and public library books coming to Kindle soon. The Kindle is the ultimate e-reader and it's not even close. E-ink doesn't cause eye fatigue. It's light as a feather. Battery charge lasts for weeks. If you want a backlit screen that can do this and that, forget the Nook and just get a tablet computer. If you want an ebook to actually use to read then get a Kindle and thank me later.
I received a Nook for Father's Day/Birthday (same day this year). Actually my wife wanted one, for some reason, so now WE have one. I have been reading on my tiny Droid screen and doing alright. Big downer for the Nook...I can't read in bed at night in dark. That is when I do 99% of my reading. Other than that, I like it. Having said that, the first books I looked for, admittedly a bit arcane, were not available on nook.
