Brought back many memories of Sierra Leon, Congo/Zaire, and Somalia. Only difference were the trees, paved road, and the apparent absence of any Kalashnikovs.

This should help hussein obama get the olympics to Chicongo.

Damn shame our country will bust it's azz to arrest someone for smoking a joint, set up elaborate stings to nail someone for soliciting a prostitute, throw you in jail big-time for driving and drinking a beer, yet turn it's back if you are in a gang and kill someone. Enough. Let's bring a few Marines back home and let them start defending OUR country. These gangs have got to go.:usaflagwa

That would mean eliminating the enemy on our own streets, not going to happen. What we really need is hope and change, that will fix everything. Maybe the Olympic Committee will embrace street killing as an Olympic sport. That would help Chicago land the games. Best thing the cops can do is stay away. They don't want to be accused of racial profiling or get into another Henry Gates situation where they are accused of bigotry trying to help someone.

    wow, right on schedule.:dis:

Anyway this is a sad situation, its really sad because this kid had nothing to do with the fight and was an honor student at the private school nearby.

The cure for a lot of this crime wave is jobs and a paycheck. They have too much time on their hands and no resources and it's going to get worse until unemployment drops under 4 percent again. The problem is the outsourcing of decent blue-collar jobs, but I don't see them ever coming back.

In a post-industrial economy, there are service jobs that don't pay enough to get by and knowledge jobs that require a bachelors degree at a minimum. With the factory jobs going overseas and illegal Mexicans taking over the agricultural and construction jobs, . . . I just don't know where new jobs are going to come from.

That should be more of an incentive for their asses to get an education. If you can compete over gang turf and a city block, then they can compete in the classroom. You dont have to be a rocket scientist to get a trade. Construction jobs are open, but having a refridgeration, welding, air conditioning, electrical, wood working or sheet metal trade, pretty much secures them decent jobs.
I agree that its a post-industrial economy, but skill will never lack to find work in this society.

Damn right. But putting 100 people into 30 jobs is a problem that will not go away until the economy gets rockin'.
