Without a QB willing to remain in the pocket, the passing game will not develop. Two things have to happen for a championship style passing game at LSU: 1) Jefferson needs to shorten his drop - no nine or eleven-step drops (he cannot see which routes are opening up/shutting down). 2) Miles neeeds to stop looking retrospectively on Lee - if he can get the job done by passing, then play him. Each of these two QBs need to believe they can compete at a high level this year. Know the playbook and embrace a strategy for moving the offense on a consistent basis. I'm stuck up here in the PacNW but made the celebrations et al last year when we played the Huskies. This year I'll be represented by my BR-domiciled sister at the opener in Atlanta. And she'll meet up with my niece (Tiger alumni) and her husband from Raleigh, NC. Just look for the girls (40+) in P&G clothing. :yelwink2: Looking forward to a surprising 10/11 win season. :geaux:
Miles must play Lee if Jefferson plays timidly again. He needs to play them both anyway because if Lee gets no PT at all (especially if Jefferson is struggling again} then he'll transfer in the spring and leave LSU with a senior quarterback and no one behind him.
See, I think the DL is the area that will be most improved. I'm much more concerned about the OL. In order of priority to me, 1) OL 2) QB 3) LB The DL should be better at getting a pass rush, which should help the secondary. But I'm curious to see how 2/3 of the LB corps pan out. Not concerned about Shepp. I'm a little concerned about WR, but not that it won't be good. Just wondering if we'll see some drops early from the young guys AND TT. Lord knows if they get the ball, it should be exciting. Concerned about Shep's hands, hoping TT shows what he's made of. Quite frankly, I'm the least concerned about RR...and he's a true sophomore that only played sparingly last season. Playcalling on offense concerns me more than ANY of these things though...but I am optimistic things will be better.
Agreed. Get the O-line and Running game back firing on all cylinders, and you'll have your QB play, I promise.
dont forget about playmakers. im optimistic but you dont know til they do it. jones, lafell and holliday were playmakers and you cant just assume that loston, randle and pp will replace them.
Shep. If we don't have enough playmakers on this team, then I don't guess I know what playmakers are.
Everytime i hear people talking bad about JJ i remeber sitting in the georgia dome at the chik-fil-a bowl against gt thinking.."this kid is gonna be great"...just goes to show you every season is completely different..nothing garunteed..but we've got "playmakers" they just have to execute...
Not sure if you're serious, because this seems a little like one of my sh!t stirring posts......but if Lee was going to transfer it would've been last summer. He's already redshirted, and he'd have to transfer to a FCS school to qualify for next year. He'd lose his senior year of eligibility if he transferred to a BCS school, I think. Perhaps he could ask for a sixth year of eligibility? But I don't think he has the case for that. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway - Please God, no QB by committee.
Lee will not transfer. I thought he would the last two years but he has more spine then 99% of people his age, and older. He sticks.
