Just got done readind Stewart Mandel's article on SI.com He says it's the year of the RB, and lists about 15 RBs that are cream of the crop, yet JV is not listed. Anyone here surprised?
I'm not the least surprised...WE GET NO NATIONAL RESPECT. But that's ok cause remember, "People are going to start respecting LSU. If not we're going to smack them in the mouth." GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!!!
I bet he just didn't look at the sophomore lists. Most of the stud backs are juniors or seniors. Somebody call him on it.
Justin is listed under "others" in the Cream of the Crop section. Mandel just doesn't go into detail about him. At least he didn't leave him off the list completely.
wow, you would have thought justin wouldnt serve the winners of the spring game a la josh booty or something
He has him as one of the ten best, with the top 3 being Sproles, Williams and Benson (which is correct IMO), then Justin is one of the next seven best. I think he got it right on the money, although I would have put Booker in the ten best as well. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2004football/ncaa/specials/preview/2004/08/05/return.rbs/index.html And a link for those who don't want to have to go searching.
So basically, he thinks JV is top 10 - just not top 3. I'm fine with that. He only got to play like half the season last year, and he's already being named one of the top 10. Still very impressive if u ask me.
I don't think Benson is top 3. He only gets yards against cupcakes. When he plays teams with an actual defense, he does nothing. Compare that to what Justin Vincent did against, say, Georgia and OU.
