Nice piece by Carl in today's Advocate. I think he's spot on with this one:

Good article...and irritates me more that the Big 10 doesn't have a championship game!

What really burns me up is the fact that emotions and personal feelings get involved in ranking to begin with. A couple of years ago, I would have sworn by the computer ranking. I thought that by taking individual conference and team loyalties out of the mix, we could have a good system. That belief was snuffed out when they decided to take strength of schedule out of the equation. Without a doubt, this was done to benefit certain teams and conferences. That the little east retained their automatic BCS bid also fires me up. They do not deserve it, and they do not earn it. It doesn't hurt that their commissioner is also the commissioner of the BCS.

The system has been flawed for years and It doesn't look like it will be resolved any time soon. Until we have a play-off, the NCAA Div 1 football championship will be the subject of many jokes and much controversy. When it comes to our beloved sport, money and power have outweighed competitiveness and sportsmanship.
