I posted this on TOS (laya), but it deserves a thread here too. Just when you think you can't possible hear another gump excuse...along comes this gem. Apparently, the reason why Maze didn't field the punt that eventually went 72 yards and flipped field position in LSU's favor was because it hit a camera wire and deflected out of his range, not because of his gimpy ankle (or more likely that he just misplayed it). To their credit, CBS has issued statement saying they've reviewed it from different angles, including the camera attached to the wire the ball supposedly hit and could find no evidence that the ball ever touched the wire. Not that I expected it or anything. But, we didn't win because our defense shut down their vaunted running attack and held their entire TEAM, much less their all everything back, to under 100 yards rushing. They lost because they didn't 'execute' 'They' beat themselves. Our defense had everything to do with their lack of execution. And they wonder why people can't stand them. Their arrogance is nauseating. We've beaten them 2 years in a row, including in their house, at night with the nation watching, against their best defense ever. We outrushed you 148 to 96 and our D-line outplayed theirs. How about giving a little credit where credit is due?

I did hear Les say that it would've gone farther but it hit a camera wire, so apparently he saw it too, but that still doesn't mean he would've fielded it. It was over his head anyway. So what if he did field it, he was gimpy & would've done much with it. If he fair caught it, it would've been a 50 yarder, so that's a whopping 12 yds! It would'nt have mattered either way. I love our QB's & support both of them, but I can't wait to see what Z Mett can do next year. LSU hasn't had a QB that can throw the long ball & has a laser for an arm like he does. LSU has a cupcake schedule for the 1st 4 games too, so that'll give him plenty of time to get comfortable.
I guess if it didn't hit the wire it would have been just another Wing punt that would have been downed inside the five.
Doesn't matter if it did, you have to deal with it. Bama didn't make plays when they needed to, LSU did.
I said it before and I will say it again, the lsu defensive stand in ot was the greatest single defensive stand in lsu history. Maybe it may equal another in the past, but none were greater. Four plays- loss of ten yards- out of field goal range. That was aginst the mr everything tailback. They didn't even get in the red zone all game. Ford ran their arse in the ground in the fourth qtr. It's easy to see the two packages. It's ford that works the jj option package and he's perfect for it. Ford made us proud. Damn strong showing mr. Ford. Damn strong indeed.
