said Miles has hired a DC but will not announce it untill after the Super Bowl. Did anyone else happen to hear that? Can't imagine why Miles would not announce it until then myself.

Because it's a defensive coach from either NE or Philly and out of respect for the team and their preparation for the Super Bowl would not announce it until then.

    That would be sweet!!!
Of course I would hope it was a DC from one of the teams and not just a linebacker or safety coach.

Hmm. This is interesting. It would have to be because of NFL regs that Miles would chose to wait that long, if in fact this story is true. Otherwise why would he wait, it would hurt recruiting of defensive players.

Or, the coach is coming from a staff of which the new head coach will be from the Patriots (i.e. Dave Campo coming from the Browns, who will hire Romeo Crennel after the Super Bowl).

Crennell is going to be the head coach of Cleveland.

And we won't be getting Philly's DC either. It will be a linebacker, DL, or DB coach.

This could be as well, but not as likely.

Yoiu may be right if Songy really did say that and if he is right. if, if, if, if, way too many ifs lately. :)

Are you kidding? Crennel is going to be the next HC of the Browns most likely and Johnpson is now the flavor of the month as the hottest DC in the league. He's probably making almost as much as Miles.

One possible reason as to why the announcement would be withheld until after the Super Bowl could be.... The Patriots will be seeking a new DC after the Super Bowl. The person Miles wants may get offered the DC job with the Patriots. Then he may not want the LSU DC job and Miles would have egg on his face having made an announcement ahead of time. A very unlikely scenario but possible nonetheless.

To me this is more likely given the current Campo rumors (although they are still shaky at best). Cleveland, like the other teams, is currently employing the old staff to run the team, scout, etc. If they let them go now there will be a couple of weeks lost while waiting for Crennel. Once Crennel gets there, and decides not to keep the staff, then the current coaches can move on while Romeo brings his staff in (which will undoubtedly be some NE staffers).
