Stewart Mandel is on campus. He just posted this article about what he's seeing in Tigerland. A great read. :thumb: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/si_blogs/football/ncaa/2007/09/welcome-to-baton-rouge.html
was watching the 2003 championship DVD today and remembering the UGA game fondly. what a turning point for LSU football
I wish I had a clip of it. UGA scored on a 93 yd screen pass to tie the game at 10 with about 4 minutes or so to go. In the past, that would have silenced the crowd. But for some reason, that afternoon, it fired them up. The place began to rock and chants of  , LSU! , , LSU! , were deafening. Devery returned the ensuing kick to mid-field or so. Just a few plays later, on 3rd and 10 from the 34, Skyler was supposed to run a route just long enough to get the 1st. Even he doesn't know why he ran the wrong route, but Mauck dropped one right into his arms in the endzone. The Valley was shaking!!! UGA tried to come back, but Corey Webster tipped Greenes's pass to himself for a game sealing pick. After the game, _____, walked in front of the student section with both thumbs raised to the sky and yelled thanky you a few times to the crowd. The man could have been elected governor that day.
Was there too. Amazingly loud. Only rival moments I witnessed as loud were Skyler's punt return against Auburn in '05 & the pre-game ceremony when they raised the championship flag for the Oregon State game in '04 (before the monsoon & streaker came out).
The streaker moment was hilarious. Remember the big security guy trying to chase down the streaker? I think the monsoon put down about 2 inches of rain in about 10 minutes.
The most remarkable thing about that season (other than the NC championship) was the fact that LSU beat Georgia TWICE! Sweet!
