Just back from the Peach – my thoughts

Had a great time with the LSU fans before getting settled in for the game. Received a lot of “ribbing” from those who found out I was an AU fan – nearly all of it was good-natured. (especially when they learned I was the only one in our office-pool that picked LSU to win.)

Kudos to the Peach Bowl Committee folks, they did a super job of running this event and hosted us well. Good fun, good food, good drink, and good sportsmanship – that’s what it’s all about and this Peach Bowl had plenty of all, especially in the LSU sections. :thumb:

The U, as they prefer to be called, was just plain sloppy in all phases of the game. This was definitely in the category of getting punk’d ….. if not a downright mongolian beatdown. Can you say “forty unanswered points?”

Meanwhile, LSU played flawlessly behind a superb game plan. Miles deserves a ton of credit for having the team prepared in such a way that they took pressure off of Flynn and allowed him to get into a good rhythm early in the game…. and boy did he respond. That first TD pass was a beauty. Flynn needs to buy his O-line some steaks after the job they did tonight. Definitely their best game of the season.

Have we just witnessed the "Pipp-ing" of Russell? Flynn’s performance would certainly warrant consideration of the starting role in ’06. IMO, it was the single best performance by any LSU QB since Mauck’s departure. He was well-poised, deliberate, and noticeably more accurate than Russell has been all season.

Congratulations to Sky Green. You were great, man. And as a college football fan, I’ll miss watching you play …. But as an Auburn fan I’m damn glad your outta’ here.

The LSU Special Teams Unit should be arrested and booked for homicide. They absolutely murdered Miami. In addition to the offensive production and successfully keeping the ball away from Hester, they managed to pin the ‘Canes deep all night long. Especially in the 3rd quarter, when Miami needed some momentum in the worst way. The two fake punts were just icing on the third-quarter cake.

The D was huge in the 3rd too, forcing Miami into three straight 3-n-outs that allowed LSU’s running game to take control of the clock. The LSU fans in the Dome were loving that…. and they were the ones making ALL of the noise. I was in one of the boxes and all 7 of the Canes fans in the group were visibly absent by the end of the 3rd quarter.

Hurricanes, you just got schooled by a team that was better prepared, more talented, and had a need to send a message to the pollsters for ’06. Now Miami fans can begin to appreciate how good they had it when they were the big fish in the small pond called the Big East.

When you get beat-up on by conference foes all season, it ain’t as easy to waltz into the postseason with a neckfull of swagger. Fans of the Pac-2 conference could learn a lot from fans of The U right now. Can I get an amen from the congregation!

Glad you were there rooting for the SEC Caddy. Now hammer the badgers (Which I am positive will happen. AU is that good and The badgers are that bad)
Dont know about Flynn knocking JR from the job, but that is for another day.

Did I tell you Miami had 3 yards of total offense in the 2nd.
    Thats amazing.

    And AMEN.

    GEAUX SEC !!!!

Nice recap. Thanks for the support. Good luck in your game against the Badgers. My boss is from Wisconsin and we've got a lunch bet on the game. :thumb:

I left in the 4th quarter to beat traffic, so I missed the scuffle.

But other than that, it's been one of the better bowl games I've ever been to. With Chik-fil-A's new commitment, I could easily see this bowl stepping up to challenge for a spot in the BCS lineup. Atlanta can easily support such a move - great airport, pleanty of hotels, mass transit, and relatively safe/family environment.
