Why such a drastic difference in playcalling for these two quarterbacks?

Clear to see Flynn had a smooth, competent vertical passing game, and russell is a bit shaky, and hesitent at times...

    What gives?

Must be skin color unless you thought the coaching staff wanted to see the backup throw the ball instead of handing it off.

For the most part Flynn wasn't throwing the ball all that deep down the field, the opposing secondary just was not tackling so big plays resulted. Flynn's one true deep pass was a somewhat poor pass which Xavier had to come back for it and make a great play on the ball. Both quarterbacks performed well and I wouldn't be opposed to just a little more deep balls. Russell missed a couple of great opportunities and I don't think he will against Bama.

That is the one thing we are missing here!

Don't think Russell is more fired up than ever now that he has a small bit of competition out there to threaten him

Flynn is a heisman type QB ... far superior to Russell. They are just keeping the white man down! :hihi:

What exactly is your point? What drastic differences in playcalling did you see?

Flynn looked great in mop-up duty...

I think I read where Miles wanted to give Flynn more passes for the experience. So maybe the play calling was more planned. But you are right, Flynn was very decisive.

Look, im not going to start up "FireJaMarcusnow.com" or anything. In Fact, I like him as our quarterback quite a lot.

My point was, I wish JaMarcus would be able to throw some long balls every now and again.... at least to keep the defense on their toes...

    Thats is all...

I agree with that. I've said all year that our passing game is very conservative. Lots of safe, short passes. Most mid-range passes are to the sideline. Very few passes down the middle of the field. Very few crossing routes where we can hit our WRs on the move and let them run after the catch, like the first Flynn to Doucet TD pass. A TE down the middle would be nice as well. Most of the long passes this year happened b/c Russell scrambled out of the pocket and threw it downfield.

But Russell did air it out twice the other night. He missed Brazell about a yard, then threw a poor pass to Davis. But I like the fact that we called 2 bombs. I'd like to see 3-4 called deep passes each game.
