What a great group of folks. :hihi: http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040923/SPORTS/409230353/1025 TV camera stolen University police and Crimestoppers are looking for information on the theft of Jefferson-Pilot camera equipment during last Saturday's game between the Rebels and Vanderbilt. A camera and tripod, valued at $13,000, were taken from a control room just outside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium with about five minutes left the game, according to police records. To report information, contact Crimestoppers at 662-234-8477 or the University of Mississippi Police Department at 662-915-7234.
You would think that they would leave their pricey equipment in a much more secure/supervised/guarded area. Can you smell the new policy coming out after this little diddy?
If our game w/ Ole Miss last year is any indication, the Oxford PD was probably too busy looking for Vandy fans to roust to notice or prevent the theft of the camera.
Looks like they were able to afford a back up. As an alternative to HDTV on ESPN, JP will be showing LSU/MSU in low definition black and white.
UPDATE!!!!! It looks like the stolen camera was actually the "ArchieCam". The ArchieCam was required to be at all SEC sporting events, as mandated by former commissioner Roy Kramer. Due to the theft, the SEC issued an official press release today saying there will be no more pictures of Archie Manning at SEC football games.
