This was JD's 2nd game of his college career, and he looks 2-3 times more polished of a QB than 3rd year QB JRussell. Something desperately wrong with that.

It all comes down to coaching. We don't have it offensively.

Same thing with our much heralded receiving corps. All that talent and they are decent at best. You watch USC's receivers and you see very polished route running, blocking downfield, etc.

Again, something desperately wrong with this picture.

As soon as JDB faces a real defense (which he might never being in the pac 10) all his polish will fade away. You can't compare JMarc's performance against Auburn with JDB's performance against Neb. Compare JMarc's first two games against JDB's first two games.

Don't get me wrong, JDB might end up being much better than JMarc, I just think it's too early to compare.

The USC WR's had their way with the secondary though. That makes a QB look awesome. They were faster and a lot bigger than the Neb secondary.

But I do believe the WR's could be more precise in their routes and do better blocking down field. There were a couple of plays where the RB's tried to round the corner but the DB's came up to stop it due to missed blocks by the LSU WR's. They could be improved on their route running, I guess, it's hard to tell really, but the blocking could be improved though.

With that said, our WR's couldn't have their way with a very good AU defense. We will win some and lose some plays against a good defense. But LSU passing game wasn't bad though, they killed AU on the 5 yd slants. Early and Bowe are very good with YAC's.

I believe JR was a little uncomfortable in the pocket at times. THere were numerous plays where he didn't set his feet to throw a bullet, which hurt a few plays.

-The pass to Lafell in the endzone where Lafell got mugged, the pass should've been fired in there harder.
-THere were a couple across the middle where the WR's had to wait on it.
-The Early phantom PI call at the end, JR should have thrown that ball harder and deeper, then the pass to Davis on the last play, should've been deeper in the endzone. Davis had to stop to catch that .

All those passes, JR didn't set his and step into and all were short of the mark and would've changed the game.

It's OK to do that occassionally but JR was timid and uncomfortable in the pocket and didn't stick to fundamentals. He was just using arm to throw.

The main difference between JDB and Russell is that JDB has been in a passing system since he was like 5. Plus he had his older brothers to help him understand everything. When Russell came to LSU he was raw, very raw. Now his 3rd year into it hes still learning. But the physical skills that he has to work with are second to none and that is something that you can't teach. So just as long as he keeps improving like he has been, I will pick him over Booty any day of the week.

JR was the nation's 3rd ranked passer (pass effi.) heading into this week. John David played against 19th ranked Nebraska--a team with HARDLY any resemblance of their former early 90's Black-shirt defenses....JR played against the #3 ranked team, on the road, against a much better defense.

I think this is one of your worst posts, islstl. Honestly. Are you just pissy at the outcome of the game?? If so, you're not alone, but there's no need for you to transform into Ramah or Kajunsausage overnight.

Wow....JDB's 24 of 39 for 179 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT vs common opponent Arizona looks SOOOO much more "polished" than JR's 13 of 20 for 196 yards (in only 3 quarters of work mind you) with 2 TD's and 1 INT... :dis:

I wish we could learn to stop before spouting off at the mouth and jumping at the first chance we get to bash our own players or coaches and just focus on the positives things that we DO have.

Yep, Booty looked so much better leading his Trojan teammates against Zona than JR did.

Man, I hope no QB recruits ever read LSU message boards, they'd be nuts to become a Tigah if they did. Perfection is not attainable in football but that is exactly what so many of the guys expect.
