I don't know the guy, I'm happy he's not white, make no mistake about it. And if I was registered to vote in Louisiana, I'd vote for him if for no other reason to feel better about myself in the profitable fight against bigotry and racism.
But, that aside, from what I've seen and heard from the guy he looks WAY to competent to be elected statewide in Louisiana. Now his opponent Ms Blanco looks like the ideal candidate to follow in the tradition of Jenkins v. Landrieu, Landrieu v. Terrell, Foster v. Fields, Duke v. Edwards, not to mention other luminaries as John Breaux, Bill Jefferson and Jay Blossman who have offered their services to various degrees of success statewide.
I worry that Jindal may offend the sensibilities of ordinary Louisianians, white and negro, male and female, straight and yes, gay, non-religious and bigoted.
Could it be that Jindal is too good for Louisiana? I wouldn't want the state to make the blind leap into respectability overnight!
