http://www.finebaum.com/audio.html Look on 5/11. Got some good stuff about JaMarcuss on there. Some RP. Finebaum brings up some on the "interesting stuff" that RP has said. As always, Fisher was a stand up guy. Talks about the "us/we" attitude. Says that RP has apologized for comments to the other 2 QBs. Says he wants to be a HC in the SEC. :thumb: :geauxtige
Good interview. I look forward to seeing the offense this year. Deffintantly sounds like JR is the go to guy.
Jimbo's playcalling sucked last year.. i thought the guy was good after 2003, saw alot of innovation that year, but last year the offense was as predictable as a trev alberts comment... everyone loves him again all of a sudden.. is it the general consensus that it was Saban that was holding him back?
I still don't know what to think of Jimbo...like you said loco, I was impressed in 2003 and last year I was standing in the student section predicting the play we would run next. If I'm predicting our plays correctly 90% of the time I think the other teams DC would have pretty good luck as well. I hope he is allowed to really open up the playbook and let our athletes and burners use their natural talents and abilities.
Well, look at what he was working with. With Mauck, Jimbo was able to do more because Mauck could do MUCH more! He didn't have that advantage last year. Not to mention Clayton/Henderson/(a healthy) Skyler Green... I have no doubt that WHEN Jamarcus grasps the entire offense we'll see Jimbo open it up. As for Saban holding back the play calling, I think it was more or less Saban stating the obvious: Niether QB could put anything together that was consistant and both were prone to making costly mistakes. Until either prooved otherwise, the offense was Vanilla. Whether Saban or Fisher was ultimately responsible for drawing that conclusion, I don't know. I do know it was justifiable. Hopefully this year we'll see an offense with a little more flavor.ldskule: ldskule:
Your right Blade, none of us know what percentage of the play calling was Jimbo's and what was Nick's. I will say that we did win 9 games so it worked fairly well whoever was repsonsible did a pretty good job. The only loss that our offense being conservative in that cost us was at Auburn I think. But the first 2 drives of the game we were not conservative at all, they went away from what was working. Miles is more of an offensive guy I think, and his running schemes are supposed to be some of the best in America, I think we will at the least see many more plays in our repertoire.
Blade is right. Our offense was limited last year by the QB's. The play calling was vanilla. I hope we have better qb play this year!
Were you basing your predictions on what the defense was doing or perhaps based upon the opponent's defensive tendencies which you were aware of having spent many hours viewing film during the week? Were your predictions based upon things you saw from the sidelines or perhaps what information you were getting from the other coaches stationed up in the pressbox? More likely, though, if you were correctly predicting 90% of the plays (which I seriously doubt) it was pure, blind, unaldulterated luck!
