It's not uncommon for a fan to wish misfortune on their opponents, nor is this the only aspect in which a fan applies logic asymmetrically. But that's why these decisions aren't left to us.
This is incorrect. People violate their probations all the time and don't go to jail. Prions are overcrowded as it is, and putting everyone away that violates probation would require about twice the prison space that we currently have. What he received is pretty standard for committing a misdimeanor while on probation.
Then I'd suggest just not watching the first 5 games of this season.

Nicky hasn't established himself as a coach that will maintain integrity at any cost. Les has. If we had a history of legal problems being swept under the rug, then I'd be questioning whether or not Hill should remain. As it is, I honestly believe Miles knows what he's doing based on his past performance regarding this type of thing.

They're going to boo him on his first snap in TS, aren't they?

No. These are LSU fans. They want to win. Jeremy Hill is an important cog in the machine if LSU is to have a "successful" season.

    They will cheer vehemently.

Well, they booed Jefferson (which was really shitty, IMO). But, since Hill is actually good, maybe he'll catch a break. Now THAT would be hypocrisy.

I'm just now listening to Coach Miles' presser about it. I have some takeaways.

-Team voted unanimously to take him back after he adressed them.

-Internal punishment is still ongoing. Les will not speculate on whether or not he will miss a game, but he didn't rule it out.

-He's displayed good behavior this summer. He took three classes and got three A's. His overall GPA is something around or over a 3.0. The takeaway from that is that he understands he has amends to make.

-Coach talked to him and feels like he now understands that he's not invisible; he carries the number on his back and the letters on his helmet wherever he goes. He also doesn't feel that what we saw on that video is truly who Jeremy Hill is or will grow up to be. He feels that he got caught up in the moment, as kids will do, and will be duly punished for his actions, following the legal system's lead.

-Hill has expressed the desire to make himself into a role model.

-He believes that people can change, and is a big proponent of giving them a chance to do so.

I'm sure there are more factors that only Coach knows about that came into play, but it all sounds legit. I see no indication that Les is "letting him off" just to win some games. I think his decision is justified.

I find it comical that there are some LSU fans who feel that Hill should've gone to jail for his probation violation. A stupid punch in a stupid barfight? A blow job from a girl with whom you go to school? Baton Rouge really has room in its jails for that kind of ticky-tack bullshit? Does Hill belong with the hardened criminals that ARE in EBRP jails? How would that be good for anyone?

Discuss it. I've stated my opinion a number of times. I think he's been punished enough; this fight was in April. The only reason JJ was suspended during the season was because the fight happened a week before the season, not four months prior. Terrance Tolliver had a similar incident in the spring one year. He didn't miss a game.

And, guys, I realize he was on probation. But for a blow job? Really?

No, an ordinary LSU student wouldn't have gotten it anywhere close as bad as Hill got it. First an ordinary LSU student wouldn't get any press, his own parents and family wouldn't even know about it. Hill on the other hand made all the headlines and had his reputation slammed nationally. That is a HEAVY HEAVY price to pay. Second, an ordinary LSU student would have likely got extended probation plus take two days of anger management, plus the fine like Hill got for like 400 bucks and maybe some community service but probably not. An ordinary LSU student wouldn't have been on house arrest after 9 for the whole summer and wouldn't be suspended from class or extracurriculars at LSU

Like i said before, being that Hill threw himself at the mercy of the courts (instead of pleading innocent like JJ) has been punished by the courts (which JJ hasn't been yet for his misdemeanor at Shady's) and had already been on house arrest after 9pm all summer, i think it would be ridiculous and malicious to suspend him for any games.

Plus Hill still faces having to cough up more money in a civil tort trial for battery, the victim has a year to file that.
