he thinks the SEC will only get four teams in the NCAA Tournament. He said the SEC is really down this year. His two biggest bubble teams were Florida and LSU. He said the Tigers had some decent wins but losses to Houston, USM as well as what he called blowout losses to Utah and West Virginia on the road would really hurt the Tigers' chances. LSU has six games remaining - evenly split between road and home 3-3. I think the Tigers have to at least go 4-2, then win a couple in the SEC Tournament in order to have a shot at the Big Dance. But going 4-2 will be really, really tough for this bunch and even that would only put them at 17-10 heading into the SEC Tourney. The next three will tell what will happen - @ Miss. State tonight, then home games with Florida and Bama.

If LSU doesn't make the NCAA Tourney, then should Brady be fired? And, do you think Skip will pull the trigger on Brady if they don't make the Big Dance?

I'd like him fired today, regardless of what happens in the tourney. From watching games it is apparent that the team has no respect for him. I once saw Brady, during a 60 second timeout, pull out his clipboard and start to diagram a play and all five starters walked away from him and back onto the court. He sort of shrugged his shoulders and sat back down on the bench.

This WON'T happen, though, for two reasons:

    1) Recent exhaustive football coaching search drains an old AD
    2) Firing John Brady also effectively fires Butch Pierre, which brings Tasmin Mitchell to either UK or the NBA.

What's the 411 here? I know we have had some great gets in basketball recruiting in recent years, but I don't know the background because I don't follow hoops all that much.

Who is Butch Pierre and if he's that great of a recruiter, why wouldn't the next coach be inclined to keep him around?

Tasmin Mitchell was a 2004 fall signee. The NBA is a possibility but UK is not.

This is true as I heard on Songy's show... He'd have to sit out a year to do that.

The deal with Tasmin is that Butch Pierre is his godfather. Aside from that, while he is a great recruiter, new coaches usually bring in their own staffs.

IMO I don't think Butch Pierre should take over for Brady if he get's the axe. He's never been a head coach and I think needs to have some HC experience before becoming a head coach in the SEC. IMO, when assistant coaches become head coaches they usually come from very successful programs and have been with very successful coaches. So my next question is - Who would you suggest to be the next LSU head basketball coach?
