JaMarcus Russell signs with agent, will go pro According ProFootballTalk.com, LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell has signed with agent Eric Metz and will enter the 2007 draft. Russell could be a top ten pick in April's draft and is a possibility for the Raiders at number one. Labels: QB, Russell, Underclassmen
Not completely unexpected news I guess and I wish him the VERY best in his pro career. ...The LSU side of me is very sad though.
This is the new world. The very best kids will play 3 years and go for the money. I don't blame them one bit, I'd do the same thing in their shoes. JaMarcus is not going to mature physically anymore. He's learned 90% plus of what he'd learn in college football. I thank him for the memories. The pass he threw to LaFell in the Sugar Bowl, the 58 yarder on the run, its one of the highlights of my LSU fandom. I'm impressed!! I appreciate everything JaMarcus did for us, and I wish him the best in the future. I hope he stays in contact with LSU, maybe help us recruit a great QB in the future. G E A U X JaMarcus !!!
Part of me has always admired the Raiders, though that part got a lot smaller last year. I just hope Al Davis can get a legit NFL coach to develop JR and realize his potential. *cough cough* Norm Chow *cough cough* Assuming of course that the really big time candidates wouldn't touch that job with a 10 foot pole
Although the news is not unexpected I'm going to wait for a more authoritative source than a web site rumor mill page.
yeah, come to think of it, I don't think Jamarcus would announce so quickly, do you? I mean, he said he would, "go home and think and pray about it...." He must pray fast!
There is also an ESPN Insider article about it. In the article it also says Dorsey will go pro and that they will both publically announce next week.
