in a few weeks from now. He ran hard the other night. I seem to recall a SECCG rushing record not so long ago.

maybe he is just one of those guys who really stands out for the big games. He turned it on late in 03, and he might turn it up late this yr. Im not saying that he did that great agaisnt bama but we could sure use a dependable back up for ATL.

Personally, I'm hoping Addai is the one looking good on the Atlanta turf...

Remember that JV is a slasher with quick change of direction. Turf makes a big difference in his game. And if he got to play on the old "fuzzy concrete" he would be even more unbelieveable, as would Skyler. Only problem with Ole Miss' field is they cheaped out and got the "plastic-like" turf instead of the nice stuff. Hopefully we have the right cleats on out the gate this year.

And I also believe that he shows up for the big games. That's a motivational problem that the coaches need to address. But I don't think its a significant problem. He stepped up on Sat and played very well against a stifling run defense. If he gets the ball in space, he is just below Skyler in the dangerous category.

JV plays better when he's not overweight.

He doesn't seem that fast to me. He can't get around the end. I'm sure it was just Bama's defense but he never seems to get to the end and cut up field.

I'd have to agree. I don't think he is anywhere close to his 2003 form....he's lost at least half a step.....I can only assume it's a weight issue but I don't know for sure. Addai is the more complete back for us at the moment. That being said I'm a big fan of JV and hope he pulls it together before his career at LSU is over.

from what i remember of him in 03, he didnt get to the outside so much. his bread and butter was cutting back.

    yep, suited for turf.

in the unforetunate event that he gets the bulk of the carries the next two games, he may get in better game shape.
